So its finally time turn that Straight Flush into a Royal Flush!
I have had enough time to think about this post for over 12 months now and a lot has been happening during that time.
As the milestone neared, I wanted to post something that was impactful and memorable to me. I had originally considered posting in the "One of a kind" RACK thread a grail rack that I was fortunate to acquire. It was my first love on PCF. I had spent over 12 months chasing it down off forum from a pcf member whom no longer seemed active and had somewhat dissapeared from the hobby. Through my persistence and perseverance I was able to get in touch with them and after several attempts the rack was secured!
But by the time my 10k post was nearing I was well on my way to building a mixed set around that grail rack so I decided to wait until that mixed set was completed and make a post in the The Official Unofficial Mixed Set Showcase Thread of PCF! instead.
I finally reached 9999 posts and it was still going to take a while alonger before I was ready to post my final interation as I continue to tweak and changed my mind on different chips trying to work towards the perfect balance to my tastes. As we all know a chipper is almost never satisfied.
So during the tweaking, my "silent" period something strange happened. I was starting to enjoy not posting all the time on PCF. I eventually found myself no longer wanting to post and comment in every thread where I once did. I now had a new found appreciation for those who contribute in a "meaningful" way more often than not and not just always for the entertainment or the drama.
As someone who is never short of a word online or in real life.I started to appreciate the value of my silence starting online and eventually bring those lessons into my daily life. I had found an almost like Zen like state while perusing the threads that I didnt have before.
But who was I kidding. The only reason I was able to feel any sort of Zen was because I no longer needed threads to communicate with strangers on the internet. I now had friends I had made during my time here on PCF that I could message them directly in PMs, text or whatsapp!
I came to PCF like a large amount of people did during the pademic in 2020 in search of some sort of refuge from the craziness of the outside world. I certainly found refuge here but I also found a community of nerds from all over the world to share in this hobby with in my own unique way.
So thank you to everyone I have interacted with over the years. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the forum which has allowed me to go down countless rabbit holes learning about the seemingly endless nuances this hobby has to offer.
Ive digressed. What happened to the mixed set? . By the time I finished the mixed set it no longer felt worthy of my 10K post. Thankfully I had another option. All the while I was cooking up the mixed set there was something larger brewing in the background. One of those chipping adventures that very few chippers have had the joy of experiencing but something definitely worth commemorating my Royal Flush status with. Completing that project felt so far away that I didn't know how long Id be silent for, so I continued to remain on 9999 posts until today.
That adventure deserves and will get a thread of its own, eventually, but in short I put my big boy pants on and went head first into the Vault Raiding game with my partner in crime @horseshoez!
There will be lots of stories and chippies for you all soon enough. For now here is a little taste.
