Hi PCF,

NEW INFO: ORDER IS PLACED AND SET TO ARRIVE BETWEEN 4/30 AND 5/4

Based on the interest thread it appears there's plenty of interest to proceed with this group buy! To recap what these are, the plaques are 3.5" x 5.75" and printed on 13pt thickness white plastic playing card stock. Pricing will depend on how many people want to participate, but I expect it to be around $35, including shipping (around 83 cents per plaque). My group started experimenting with mixed games using @abby99 's amazing PCF resource. I wanted to have a set of mixed game plaques we could use at the table that would show what game we were playing and had Abby's game instructions on the back. I was inspired the game plaques from the Wynn:

I saw a lot of members producing plaques from trophy stores on metal and plastic, but they seemed cost-prohibitive to produce for a wide variety of games. So I had the idea of making them on playing card stock. I started researching and found makeplayingcards.com, which lets you make custom game cards. I produced a custom set with 90+ games to match my JACK Detroit set, and I was really happy with how they came out.

One problem was the cost - producing a single deck was expensive and their low-quantity shipping cost is CRAZY. It occurred to me that others in the PCF community may be interested in this and doing a group buy could really reduce the cost for everyone.

As mentioned in the interest thread, @abby99 and I reviewed her mixed game resource and selected 36 games which we think cover the bases of a robust plaque set. It includes all the "core" games that have been spread in traditional mixes for years, the more modern games which are popular in current mixed games in Vegas and LA (e.g. Badeucey, Dramaha, Double Board Omaha, Super Stud 8, etc.), and games that are frequently played at PCF meetups. I have added the 6 most popular additions requested in the poll of the group. The final list of 42 is below:

I forgot to put it on the survey, but I’d like to see a card for COURCHEVEL
But the only thing I feel very strongly about is no logo.

Voted. Suggested adding Pineapple (given it is the basis for Crazy Pineapple) and 4-Card Chowaha.

I'm curious why with the 36 games chosen, there's only room for 6 more games. That makes 42. If these are playing cards, shouldn't there be room for 52 (or 55 with jokers and a warranty card?)

As I mentioned in the other thread, there can’t be customization in the group buy, but when it’s complete I’m happy to share the design files if you’d like to produce a custom set. I think single pricing would be around $45. There’s some non trivial work to output and set up the art files on their site also.

Strangely in this size with custom on both sides they don’t offer either of those card counts. The next is 48 and above that 56 (many more counts available also). When I researched it the price jumps to 48 and 56 were a worse value per card. Also when I researched shipping, at 56 cards the weight of the deck bumps us into a different individual shipping cost on the reshipping. So 42 was the best bang for the buck.

$45 isn't bad. I have a GD on staff who can customer my designs and do all the technical stuff. If I shoot the files over to you can you make the rest happen? Or would it be easier for you if I just ordered them directly?

I’m just doing the one GB order, so definitely PM me after this is finished and I will send you the files so you can build your direct order with them.
 
What is the cost for more cards? Personally I would rather have as many as possible and then just choose my favorites to use on a given night. Nice to have more options. It’s is already $35 a deck so I would easily pay $40 or more for as many options as possible. Just my opinion.

Excellent idea, I am still probably in for this, but I want to put some thought into the survey, how long will you keep it open?
 
Submitted survey, would prefer no logo, other than that I'm good with the game selection for this GB, it covers most of the basics.

I'll be getting with you for the template/files after the GB to do a personalized set at a later date.

I respectively disagree. In my mind, Omaha and Double-Board Omaha are 2 different games in which one is a split pot and should be noted so...

Same as differentiating between Omaha and Omaha 8.

What I don’t think you need is to differentiate between Big Bet, Limit, Pot Limit... I think you can separate game variant from betting structure... To save on cards...

I am with @churlbut18 on this as well. If part of the point of plaques is to make sure games are dealt correctly and so all players understand how the deal is going to proceed, it makes perfect sense that these be separated.
 
I gave a lot of thought before launching this, and I wanted to share my thinking regarding a few of the points folks have been raising:

1) In terms of duplication of variants (double board, hi/lo), I think that perspective on this comes down to how people will use this set. If you play a fixed mix, then having unique cards for each game in the mix is critical as two variants can be in the same mix. If you are using this to select a game in dealer's choice, it's less necessary to have unique cards and consolidating the cards frees up "slots" for other games. I would argue that for dealer's choice, a binder with @abby99 's cards is actually a much better solution - it is comprehensive and a much easier way to flip through games at the table than a big deck of cards. This GB is focused on allowing folks to spread a mix rotation, as is done in casinos where they have separate cards for the variants. Having separate cards for NLH/LHE and maybe Omaha/PLO is a good one - I personally never play a limit/big bet mix but that is done and so those will be included on the poll to see if people want separate cards for those. I think the point of consolidating really is about freeing up slots for a broader set of games, which is related to the next point.

2) Regarding adding games, either by consolidating the existing list or adding to the number of cards: process-wise this isn't realistic. I do want to allow for feedback on the game list, which is why we left 6 slots open. The current list of 36 has been well researched with @abby99 's input and vast knowledge on this subject, and I do believe these represent the overwhelming majority of games that most people play in most settings. And I think 6 extra games is a chance for folks to weigh in on ones that were missed or individual favorites, and for the group to find consensus on which of those the most people will get utility from. Getting this opinionated forum to agree even on 6 games may be a challenge, let alone 16 or 26. There is very low likelihood of having consensus on a larger set of games, and the logical conclusion there is expanding the set to cover all the individual requests, and there being a lot of games most folks will not play. Larger sets become more expensive to produce and the individual shipping jumps up at 56 cards and over. Doing a comprehensive deck may end up being >2x the price of this GB, and still won't be anywhere near comprehensive. Selfishly, I am trying to keep this process manageable for myself as well!

So unless there is overwhelming consensus in the survey (please only fill out once!) that certain games should be removed, we are going to stick with the 36 games laid out and the 6 extra games to add. I understand that some will disagree, but I think there are easy solutions for folks to individualize to your preferences:

1) If you don't want to have the duplication in your home game it's easy to just remove those cards!
2) As I said before, I am happy to provide the design files to you to produce your own additional game cards. I may have designs for games you want from my personal set so you won't even have to do the design work.
3) Mixed games and preferences are always evolving so this set will likely get stale. If this goes well, we can consider doing an "expansion pack" next year where some games that didn't make the cut this time can be considered if you don't want to make your own individual cards.
