I plan to add on a few more barrels of T1000. But I'm heading off to a family Christmas gathering on Sunday. What's the best structure for a tournament for around 15-18 players with this collection of 700 chips.

T25 x 200
T100 x 260
T500 x 100
T1000 x 100
T5000 x 40

I wanted to do 15K starting stacks. If I drop it to 14K, I can do this. 16 buyins, plus 6 rebuys, or can use the Rebuy stack size and the last 8 T25 chips if I have over 16 starting players players. I can also make it a freeze out if I have to, but I strongly prefer rebuy tournaments.

I also have a barrel of 25K chips that I could use to buy smaller denoms from big stacks. But I worry that might mess with playability, unless someone has amassed a 50K+ stack.

That looks like a helpful spreadsheet. Is that something you created or something that's floating around for download?
I created it a couple years ago, then after I posted above, I remembered I had it. So I basically answered my own question. LOL. Still interested in having this critiqued by the tournament experts, since I hardly ever run tournaments.

I think the answer is no, and you caught your deficit of T1000. When calculating total chips needed to support a structure, ignore the first 2 denoms because they'll be coloured up eventually.

Nah, I can definitely make it work. I've known for a while that I was going to add on more T1000. Just been allocating chip funds to other higher priority wants lately. I also have a bigger set that I could use, but my Harrah's $500 chips are supposed to show up tomorrow, so I want to take this Paulson set with me instead of my old ceramic set. I also think that having more T500 than I really need can help to make up for the T1000 deficit.

FYI @Knoxymoron I found an error in a formula on the spreadsheet. The 8250 amount for estimated highest level is actually about 15,000. With 15 min levels, I'm looking at about a 5 hour tournament.

Thanks. I have a spreadsheet for the levels too. Due to my shortage of T1000, I won't be coloring up the T500s. This also lets me smooth out some of the jumps.

Having just 100 x T1000 chips for 18 players is a woefully low amount (extra T500s in play will help a little, but not much). Playability will be stressed until field size drops below 10 players remaining.

Thanks Dave. I think more realistically it will be 14-16. But won't know for sure until I start to organize the game.

It may all be a moot point, as I'm starting to fear that my Harrah's 500s may not be delivered today...

Current status of my Chiproom shipment. They are still saying I'll get it tonight. Any bets? Maybe since it's Christmas-time, they will still put it on a truck this afternoon, but I'm not too hopeful.

Assuming they don't arrive today, I've packed up my larger cards mold T-set and bumped up to 800 chips as follows:

lol asks a question then argues w replies ;-)

I hope the chips arrive and more importantly hope you take it down! Booyah!

Actually, I asked the question, then answered my own question. No one else offered any other alternative stack options.

One guy said I couldn't do it, after I already demonstrated how I could do it.

There was some discussion. (good thing?) But looking back through my replies, I don't see any arguing. Except maybe for this post. :p

More than enough I'd say.

10 players getting : 12/12/4/4
10 players getting : 8/13/4/4

Starting stack = 7500
Starting blinds = 25-25 (300 BB)

You can color-up the 25 with 500 and the 100 with the 1000.

25-25
25-50
25-75
50-100
75-150
100-200
150-300
## color-up 25 ##
200-400
300-600
400-800
600-1200
800-1600
## color-up 100 ##
1000-2000
1500-3000
## color-up 500 ##
2000-4000
3000-6000
4000-8000
## should end here ##

You can also color-up the 100 & 500 and the same time and have level 1000-3000 instead of 1500-3000.
