Doesn't take much to pop the pricing bubble. I see two auctions ending tonight where hot stamped Paulson chips sold for ~$0.50 per chip. A few months ago these auctions would have gone for twice as much or more.

Just give the members a big chip room offering and pricing falls back a little closer to earth. For a while anyway.

The price on the fracs shocked me a little bit. The only thing I can figure is that the condition scared people away. The price on the other set is pretty spot-on, IMO, and in line with other monogrammed sets having less than optimal breakdowns/missing chips.

Yeah condition made me pass on both the fracs (& the $25's that the same seller had listed). If they had been excellent to mint they would have fetched the same premium price other HS he has listed in the past.

Condition, condition, condition....

Condition and perhaps the fact that it's tough to use those fracs with most traditional cash sets since they're red.

Yeah the condition was terrible. You couldn't have given those fracs to me. The other set was missing chips and not really usable in any capacity with a $10 and a $20.

And I'd just add to all of that . . . Pop??
I don't think anything's popping. I think I've seen a trend of prices dropping a bit here on this site, since the Cleveland sale. They'll probably rise again. But even if they didn't rise, prices are still pretty high.

Condition and more importantly color would prevent me from buying those... red quarters?

always thought 3 was the traditional red

vineyard $10 is red. no idea if it's standard but that's my go to reference for cali colors (in my brain anyway). crystal park $10 is brown now that you mention it.

*shrug*

It has been feeling like some of the prices are coming down a bit on some of the more "generic" Paulsons, but as stated before it really depends on quality and types...

I threw out what I thought was a low-ball offer on the 391 set and got it. What will I do with it?? No idea yet, but it gives me options. Can always buy a few more solids, send them all to Gear to mill and make awesome custom set, or can use them for the drunk brother game, nickels, dimes, and 20 cent pieces.

Just gotta figure out how to clean off that cigarette burn looking stain on the $1s.

13 months ago I fell into the wormhole and I decided to put together a "close cali hot stamp cardroom" set and this coos pa chip became the first purchase. bought a bunch from this seller and the 25s are worn and aged but for my virginal set, it was fine.

oh yeah...this chip has always been on the cheaper side...that price was the same a year ago I think
the set is now playable, although the denominations are a bit odd with the 2 dolla chip

.25 200
$2 200
$5 150
$20 100

could never find quantity of $1's though....

there was a fellow on chiptalk that had an enormous set of these---tried to contact him but crickets..

anyone know josh7975 from the blue wall?

Supply and demand is well at work. The market is being flooded with very nice, very usable, available, and VERY reasonably priced Horseshoe Cleveland chips. That sale is "scratching the itch" for folks who normally buy and sell Paulsons. After the hysteria is over for those chips we'll see where prices are at. I think that caused a swing for less demand and lower prices.

Not for those of us who don't like those Horseshoes at all, I'm afraid.

But I'm happy to see all those folks blowing their wads on the Horseshoes -- less competition for me if something I want surfaces.

I like the Horse Shoe's, but don't "love" them. However, the price point was fantastic for me to get a deep, one table Paulson Casino Cash set which is a first for me :) I've been shopping for one for a couple of years. I just couldn't pay the posted prices for them.

I if wasn't underwater from over indulgences on other chips, I would have gone after the larger set - building inventory for a big potential relabel project. But I am pushing the envelope and in danger of getting in seriously hot waters as my winnings aren't offsetting the costs.

Easiest solution that problem is to play more ;)

There aren't so many games here in the middle of no where. The new big city underground games are sucking a lot of the money out of the poker community. (and I know a $8/hr seat charge plus monthly fees plus a two hour round trip makes even a juicy 1/2 game tough.) I'd play as many more games as I could find - except I avoid smoking games.

Yes -- in Rennes today, headed to Tours tomorrow, Cognac the next day, etc. Two weeks on the road, then a week in Paris.

That sounds amazing! I hope when I'm a little more established and not so tight on money I can do some traveling. Have fun Larry!

Agreed. If it weren't for the faux inlays, I would have went after some secondaries but I need more casino chips like I need a hole in the head. Customs baby!!!

Thanks -- we're trying, but the food and wine are winning. May need to buy an extra-wide seat for the flight home.

It's also interesting driving a Golf turbo-diesel with both manual xmission and stop-start technology. Surprisingly, it works pretty well.

Wasn't that second-best Josh's handle before he changed it to just @Josh ? If so, he's on PCF occasionally.

Does sound amazing, and like a good time to not be in Florida. I wondered if the weight of your chip collection had kept your house from blowing away (if you are near the storm).

Food and wine in France I'm sure would be hard to resist.

That turbo diesel is right up my alley. I work on turbos all day long!
