$ (Dollar Sign) on Tournament Chips (3 Viewers)

I prefer having fictional units on the tournament set. Like 100 waffles, or 5000 jelly points.

That way there is no confusion about someone trying to cash out they tourney chips.

Fun fact: if you do have waffles as your currency be prepared to start making stacks and stacks of delicious breakfast if someone wants their 10,000 waffles.

Any other suggestions?

If you are looking for extremely inexpensive, you could try the Showdown Poker line. No $ symbol, slugged plastic, very cheap.

I haven't handled them but I've heard that they are one of the better options at this price point.

Apache sells them here. Always get samples.

“Always get samples” should be a mandatory signature line for all PCF members.

I am have seen these and really like the look of the chips (actually the Knights chips) and am currently awaiting a sample set of them. I was hoping for an upgrade of the metal inserts. But these definitley look like an option.

I think ABC has some. Message him.
I contacted him throuhg is site, the site only as the CPS bounty chips. I will see what he says. Thanks for the heads up

It will be hard to get anything better than plastic for $0.25/chip
I have a sample of Nexgen classic pro coming too. Just from looks alone I like them but they have the $ sign. Not sure how I feel about the $ being on tournament chips

What is everyone's thoughts on have the $ with the denomination on tournament chips.

I generally prefer no $£€¥ signs of any kind. It gives me the lattitude to use a set for cash or tourney; though not at the same time obviously.

Some in my crew think differently.

My last session I broke out my Monacos and was told by one that he preferred them over my dragons.

Oddly enough this was because of the ¢ sign.

To truly upgrade, what am l looking at .50 a chip?

Depends on your luck, patience and preference. There are some great deals in the classifieds allowing you to get excellent condition clays for 50c/chip or new ceramics for 25c/chip. But these deals aren't there every day...

Don't get me wrong, I like the PCF Promo Chips and the like, but is he out of his fricken mind?! Your T50 alone is worth the price of the buy in. Oh well, I guess that leaves a spot open at your game, right? :sneaky:

It DID surprise me to hear him say that. He’s a bit of a POW so at least chips he may not appreciate can be duly liberated from him. ;)

I’ll take your Dragon chips since you won’t be using them anymore lol

Besides the nevada jacks skulls i dont think you can get any ceramics for .50 from abc.

You can get pretty much any of the chips in the classic section from sunfly for less than .50 a chip. Just make sure you email them directly for a quote. But shipping from them is expensive.

Better option is a full set with white melamine inlays, and just write in the denoms (currency synbols optional) with a dry erase marker. Add ncv if you want, too.

Easily changed from game to game. Very versatile.
I’m coming to that game with a pack of markers and wipes in my pocket. BAM! My barrel of $1’s is now worth $500!

Reviving a six year old thread…had our first tourney last night with cash game regulars. $20 buy-in for 10,000 chips. Mirages by Tina all have dollar signs (via Apache).

One or two guys were seriously confused for about ten minutes on how dollars weren’t involved in what was happening. $20 for $10,000 in chips should be obvious but that’s high level math and advanced logic for some.

By the tourney close, it was very well understood. My preference now, no currency symbol and NCV. Jeesh. Not worth the extra breath.

I agree that dollar signs do not belong on tourney chips, but it is fairly common in home games. I had a player years ago that freaked out when the blinds reached 500/1000 - because that was a "mortgage payment".

Dude, you paid $20. That's all you can lose.

Didn't matter. He was physically shaking and played tighter than an Au6 knot. Went from chip leader to loser. Same thing occurred the next time he played. Soon after he quit.

Funny part is there were no dollar signs. The chips were not even denominated. Some people are just broken.
