I’ve been here for maybe a month now and the PCF mantra of “get samples” has well and truly kicked in.

Still waiting on some CPC Rounders and Atlantic Club samples but I’m accumulating a good cross section.

Between these and the chip design tool, I’m pot committed now.

Sheesh... I thought I already had all of the samples that I could ever possibly need in order to finally pull the trigger on building a set, and then you had to go and post this. LOL! Somehow in all the time I've spent around here I had never come across Sidepot chips mentioned until now, but those do look pretty darn nice. It looks like the Inplay chips have since been discontinued so you must have gotten one of their very last sets of those, but I just ordered samples of their Archetype and Venerati lines. I'm now out another $40.00 and yet with all of the money that I've spent on samples so far I still don't even have a single full playable set of chips to show for it. Joining this site was definitely not my best decision. :ROFLMAO:

I also recommend getting samples of the Greek or web mold ceramic hybrids. You’ll thank me later.

I'm not sure about @DrunkleWade but I already do have samples of both the Greek and Web molds. I definitely love both of them (personally I lean towards the Web mold a tiny bit more) but I feel like if I go that route then I might as well do custom artwork to make it truly my own. And that opens up a whole conundrum of needing ideas for said artwork, and/or commissioning someone to come up with it for me, and then it just turns into a whole ordeal. So I'm still debating going down that road, but it seems like it's one heck of a lot more complicated than just ordering Pharaoh's from Apache. LOL

To be fair, I bought the Inplay's about 10 years ago (before they discontinued the line) so I'm cheating a little by adding them to my consideration pile. That's how long I've been sitting on buying a decent set.

I have had a set that I have been using for about twenty years now. It started as a set of Modern Clay Poker chips and then added larger denomination InPlay chips to round out the tournament set. And I love them. But I am now considering buying a single cohesive set with denominations from $5 to $500,000. But I am pretty particular. I like 9-10 gram rather than the 13 gram chips. I like clay rather than ceramic. I have preferences as to side spots. And I would like custom inlays with the name of my poker club in it. I say all of this to say, I have a small grocery bag full of samples because I want to make sure I know exactly what I am going to buy. My suggestion is, the hell with it, once you start down the rabbit hole, just embrace the madness and go down the rabbit hole. That way when you finally get your set, it will be one you are happy with for years and years to com. :cool

You need CPC in your life. But you only have a limited time.
