INLAYS ARE ONLY PLACEHOLDERS

So I have a mockup of a future custom chip set. If people like the end result I do intend to add it to the PCF options for Tina buys.

I love the bear claws designs (or I guess dragon claws in this case). I've mocked up a 12 piece set (I also have a white chip and a bounty) for people's feedback.

Credits where they are due:
- Tiger Palace for the 100k Blurple and the 20 Brown. Love those designs so much.
- Kodiak for the inspiration and the 5 Red.
- Big Top Poker for the 1k Yellow
After these all similarities are purely accidental.

Some inspirations:
- 5c Light Blue I thought of a refreshing milkshake or sherbert.
- 25c Grey inspired partially by the SF Giants colors.
- 1 Blue I started from blue and orange inspired by Subnautica.
- 500 Purple very loosly based on the Aurora Star Tournament set.
- 5k Orange is roughly Halloween inspired.

As for the inlay, completely ignore that. Its a roughly done placeholder to give a very, very basic concept of having a dragon, gothic font, and red numbers (obviously much larger). Eventually I'll probably pay someone for much better inlay art.

So, any constructive feedback or comments?

Yeah where’s the story? I heard Drunken Dragon and I actually was like oh this’ll be dope, but in my mind didn’t even think it’d be dragon.

I thought it would be chips for an inn where Vikings would stay, particularly those on the roads hunting dragons, or it would be chips connected to martial arts because of “drunken boxing” or “drunken fist” (shoutout Lei Wu Long!), maybe a dojo named Drunken Dragon.

There’s so much imagery and storytelling connected to dragons (they’re awesome), that to simply see a dragon dragon, that would be disappointing somehow.

I thought of @Hotus777 's set

That was a surprisingly solid set. I enjoyed that very, very much.

That's the absolute #1 reason customs are great to me - would a casino ever produce something that like, or would we ever have a group buy on here (or nagb) for something like that? Absolutely not. But hot da*n look at those, they deserved to be made!

Will they be a HoF set? Who knows, probably not? Would I rate them a fire 10 out of 10, especially for executing exactly what they were looking to make? Absolutely. And Mattross did a bang up job conveying each dragon's own personality in that tiny little space/headshot on each denom.

There was surprisingly low fanfare, https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/dragons-den-cash.117399/#post-2416719, so maybe mine is a hot take? I know obviously sets like this that bring the heat with bright as f**k colors aren't everyone's cup of tea, but when it works well it works well. Angie's Castle comes to mind, and you have to dig to find mention of those anywhere too.

Well like I said, the inlay is a pure placeholder. I would love to get art of a dragon being sloshed. Final inlays wills look 100% different.

The name comes from two sources. My group loves to play DnD and other fantasy games while getting hopelessly toasted. We also like to play Red Dragon Inn and use live ammo.

But for reals I think the hard part is, it's Tina's. Not at all dogging those, they're awesome, but people see that and immediately tune out anything else. For whatever reason, most designers/chippers worth their salt don't really respond to most of these posts. With something that can be copied, something where they can't guarantee colors, something that simply isn't costly to produce, the general effort from the community to assist is a bit lower.

The other issue you'll likely run into is how much claw is available today as an edgespot. So even using something like a Tina's where literally almost anything can be done, the design is simply using current, popular, available THC chips - i.e. you're playing towards the weaknesses of Tina, and not strengths.

But doing something like an all tiger or all 8v etc etc doesn't seem worth doing when there's current customs out there that are already 100/10 on paulson.

(Franks Final Table one of my all time favs)

edit - if there's someone you need for assistance in design and this type of theme, hit up @Cratty. But I hope he convinces you to do CPC instead and maybe a bad mamma jamma dragon concept. sample please (if cpc)!

Shouldn't the dragon be lying down or slumped over or something?
Well ya. I havent gotten the inlay art made. Its an MS paint placeholder. Lookin for feedback on the chips themselves. Even all the numbers are 25 and you'd have to squit to see 'em. Lol

How about a sobered up Dragon that had lost his family, job and dignity at one time but has risen from the ashes to make himself great again!! Now that dragon would have some depth to him!!:D

Since people seem confused by the inlay situation, I am absolutely no artist but I used AI (gasp) to do a rough mock up for roughly what I was thinking. Ignore the spelling.

So imagine something like this with Drunken Dragon in old english font arced across the top and the denomination below

Nobody is confused. You have landed in the land of smart-asses'.

Now seriously, will this Dragon be a problem?? Is he a fun drunk or a mean drunk?

Let's focus on one set at a time. What's your priority? The cash set or tournament set? Then we can give you more focused feedback.

On the cash set the quarter and dollar both use a blaze orange edge spot. Is there possibly a different color that might work well on one of them? Overall I like your color selection of base and edge spots. Not crazy about the $20 but that might be somebody else's favorite.

On the tournament chips, that is ALOT of chips (25-100,000). Generally if you are running a T25 you don't need any value higher than 5,000

Well I'm making it so that .05 - 20 are good for a cash set and the rest tourney. I personally have a separate cash set, so this will be a tournament and board game set. I'm tempted to go up to 1 million just because of board games.

The cash 20 is actually from Tiger Palace because I like that design for a brown chip. I'll tinker to see if I can get something that doesn't repeat an edge spot.

Thanks for the input!

I recognized it. That's why I said "some will love it" as there is alot of people that love that chip.

I can't really say much more on your chip color and edge spot selection as I find them pleasing. The only thing that comes to mind is that you have two blue based chips in your cash and 2 purple based chips in your tournament. Maybe switch one?

Thanks! I went through a bunch of iterations on the 100 before settling on that one. Funny enough, the 25k I just threw together in 2 min and went, "Huh. That'll do."

Got my next phase of overall design done. Some sizing is slightly off but overall is coming together. Unfortunately the tariff situation puts these more out of reach by the day, but it is what it is. Here is the current designs.

I included the alternate chips I've mocked up. I also have the 4 special chips just for the shinanigan games my group sometimes plays. To explain, using a pineapple chip gives you a 3rd card to use and heist allows you to reenter once after a fold with 2 new cards.

So, what does everyone think?

I’m In the middle of ordering a bear claw set and some of my color choices are very similar to yours so great minds think alike!

So I love the bounty chip.

I see a theme in edge spot colors sometimes. Not sure if intentional or not. You use a white spot in 3 of the first 4 chips then. Then 3x yellow spot in a row then 3x green spots.

The dark green 25 and black 100 are possible dirty stacks
