Finally got the first of my two boxes today, the pleasures of living the other side of the world.

All I can say about them is wow. The colours are absolutely insane and the frac in particular is electric. I'm so glad we went with the bright colour palette.

I was nervous about getting them after hearing that they were softer and more slippery than the horseshoes, but I'm glad I had dropped my expectations because now that I've received them, they are even better than I had dreamed they would be. The hundos are actually a lot nicer in person than pictures suggest as well, though they still have way too much spot colour showing in stacks.

Onto some details. I agree that they are noticeably softer than the horseshoes and have a different sound, but fortunately I prefer both of those aspects about them.

Personally they don't seem slicker than the horseshoes to me, but they do feel different. I'm used to playing with dolphin chips, and recently played with WSOP bud Jones and in my mind these matsuis blow those two out of the water in terms of feel and looks. Definitely the best plastic chips I've ever handled.

Although I didn't mind it, I wasn't a massive fan of the inlay throughout most of the design process, but as this GB was Mel's baby, I made sure I was very positive about it in our discussions  :ROFLMAO:. Now that I see them on the chips, I think she and he who shall not be named hit a home run (baseball reference for you there Mel). They fit the chips really well and I love them.

I guess I just became a Matsui Fanboi and I even text my wife to say how much I loved them lol not that she cares.

I might even love them more than my CPCs :jawdrop::eek: so I owe a great debt of gratitude to @liftapint for kindly allowing me to be involved in the process.

Edit. I did just try the tilt test and they do fly off one another quite easily, so I do see what people are saying. Still my table is flat lol and I don't see it being an issue

Anyone else notice the difference between the edge spots and the base colors that are the "same"?

The base color for the 25 and the edge spot for the 5 are both #09, but came out very different shades of purple on the chips. Did they only use the brighter colors on the base colors of the chips?

I got a barrel of the error $20s to check out because I've never handled Matsuis. I have to say these are *really* nice chips - they feel, look, and shuffle great. But the thing I find odd about them is how muted the shuffling sound is - I feel like I am wearing a pair of noise-cancelling headphones when I am shuffling them!

The World Poker Series chips were louder. The Emerald Bays were done on a different plastic that seems to be softer. I like both.

I’m late to the party. Just got a set of these yesterday. Got them into play last night. Love the colours. Love the inlay. They are very slippery though.
I know these are 5 years old but belated congratulations to everyone involved in designing these.

Nice! I seem to remember someone writing somewhere of a way of making them less slippery. I believe it was a very gentle sandpaper treatment or something like that.

Ah that rings a bell. I’m not sure I can be bothered doing that  :ROFLMAO:
