For Sale Empress Joliet Set - 1000+ and a ton of extras. (2 Viewers)

If it goes to split I'm interested in the $1k plaques, poker sized cut cards, seating chips and dealer buttons.

So far we've got interest expressed on everything except the 5's and 25's (not surprising, and the things i have valued the lowest anyway).

Hoping to find a single buyer and open to discussing valuations. It's been hard to find any relevant comps for a lot of these, as the higher denominations rarely come up for sale in full racks. And things like the $5k plaques and bubble gum snappers are next to impossible to find in any quantity.

GOing to let this run a little while. Making notes on who is interested in what (publicly and privately) and will reach out if it does wind up coming to a split.

Had some requests for more pics and details from some people privately, figured I may as well post it all here.
1K's. 44 Bright blaze orange.
100's. 25 LCV and 175 SCV. The majority of the SCV are hot pink.

“44 Bright blaze orange” = 44 Primary SCVs

As an Empress owner with racks of both Primary SCV $1,000 and Primary LCV $1,000 chips, I can say with a high degree of confidence that ALL of them are Paulson Blaze Orange.

The difference is that the LCVs have metallic dust mixed in, making them a bit grungier looking, a bit darker, and HEAVIER.

Following are some photos of Primary $1,000 SCVs and LCVs, along with color sample of “Blaze Orange” and “Orange” (“Orange” being the closest non-fluorescent color).

No flash photo, with the Paulson Orange color sample chip on bottom:

That metallic dust in the LCVs adds significant weight:

Shameless pr0n of Empress PLASTIC cards:

One other difference between the Primary $1,000 SCVs and LCVs is that the LCVs typically have a little bit of wear, as can be seen in the close up photo of the edges above.

Anyway…

Somebody nab this awesome set!

Great info and pictures. I love the LCV version that looks a little dirty. Wish I had a rack of those.

Would hate to carve up this set, so to try to move things along, doing a weekend price drop to $13,000 OBO. Feel free to send offers via PM.

If there's no interest in taking the whole thing, then I'll start thinking about carving this turkey up!

Sigh. Looks like we may need a new roof. Started reaching out to people who have called 'dibs' in this thread or messaged me privately. If you're interested in anything, let me know and we'll work on a deal!

Bump! Looks like many of these are going to sell privately, and a few will be coming up for auction or split up into barrels. If you want to try to work out a deal, this is the time to do it!

Well crap. I won an Empress Casino flag in an auction a while back and always intended to build a set. However, I'm nearing retirement and just can't do it.

BUT, here's what I'm willing to do to help with this sale if @Teach42 is okay with it. If the set sells, I will sell the flag to the person that buys the most (in $ terms) for what I paid ($108) plus shipping if they want the flag. It's an AWESOME giant, heavy duty, flag that would look great hanging on somebody's wall or flag pole.

GLWS!!

Hahahaha. I really wanted that flag and always regretted not bidding more when it was auctioned :) That is the only Empress flag I have ever seen anywhere. Cool as heck!

Very kind of you to offer. Totally fine with me.

Why is everything happening privately? If the OP wants top dollar just auction everything in pieces.

Very valid question. Two reasons.
1) Because a crap ton of people messaged me privately already.
2) If someone makes me an offer that's even close to what my own estimations are in terms of value, I'm happy doing that. If that means I don't get 100% top value on them, I can live with it. Bird in the hand vs two in the bush kinda thing.

That said, there are a couple of denominations nobody has expressed interest in yet (the racks of $5's and $25's in particular, not a huge surprise), and a few that I haven't had any offers that I accept. Those I will most likely wind up putting into auction and letting the market decide. Right now, it looks like the $1k's are heading that direction, and possibly the $5k plaques.
