For those who don't know and don't feel like looking it up, prior to decimalization, there were 20 shillings in a pound (and 12 pence in a shilling). So a 10/- is half a pound. It is a 50-pence chip.
He might get that 400+ single-chip auctions from now....... otherwise, he should jump at any offer over $1000.I just couldn't see him going much below $5-$7 a chip.

I'd like to see what backgammon sets he has available.
Not understanding your British math. The 10 is half a pound so by your math 20/2=10 shillings×12 pence= 120 pence not 50 pence???For those who don't know and don't feel like looking it up, prior to decimalization, there were 20 shillings in a pound (and 12 pence in a shilling). All before my time, but you can see why they changed it!
Cracking chips in the OP. Would love to have a set. Paulsons or Christy & Jones?
I actually found this PDF when doing my research. Looks like they were from 1966 and never put in playPlayboy Club in London opened in '65. Decimalization took place in '71. The chips were made in that narrow window.
Just FYI...He is still asking $7,000 for the 400 chip set. No wonder it is still floating around after all that time. I am from that area and he reconfirmed that ridiculous asking price.
when he dies, his kid will try selling them for $10k because his dad said they were worth 20/each in 2017 and now you have to calculate for inflation, durrHe tried to give me the same explanation to justify his outrageous price. He will be sitting on those for a long time with his mindset. No wonder he has been sitting on them for years!!
I raise your guinea by one crown and a hapenny.
