and then some 50c
Would you? Is it just because they're available? I have a small set - almost 400 chips. I've never actually played a real nickel game; I've just used these for playing with my kids. But my sense is, if and when I actually put these into play in a real cash game, I wouldn't put the 50 centers into play at the same time as the quarters and dollars, unless I ran out of chips.

It's kind of funny that the set has nickels, dimes, quarters and half dollars.

It's almost like you're a cashier counting change every hand lol

What do you lot reckon then would be the optimal denoms for a small stakes cash setup, say for 6 people? 10 or $20 a head. No .50c?

Depends on the games you are playing and the setup. My micro mixed game with a $10 cap would need something different than a pure 5c/10c NL or PL game.

WRT 50c chips, almost every cash game picture I've ever seen with only 3 denominations in play looked boring and unexciting to me, chip-wise, almost depressing. Get some colors and chips on the table, man! I completely understand the utility and efficiency of a 5c-25c-$1 micro cash setup. But I want stacks and stacks of chips on the table, even for people who buy in short, and just un poco variety.

I can appreciate that. It's pretty much the same reason I have dimes and 50 centers in my carousel, even though I don't plan on using them - they look nice!
