Fat Tire CPC... Set Design Thread (1 Viewer)

Still not in love with the purple above... Maybe something like this?

OK, another draft... I think it's getting better? Any thoughts? I have moved from vivid contrasts with between the spots and base colors, to trying for subtle complimentary colors.. However, I'm still open for suggestions.

Went with a charcoal 100 chip. Still undecided here.

I also added a very rough draft of my inlay concept (taken from my table artwork). Yes, it will likely have to be modified, but the colors/theme are about right...

COLOR SAMPLE,COLOR SAMPLE!!!!

^^^^^^ This x eleventy billion.

I think just about everybody who has done a custom set has developed some ideas using the design tool and changed some of the colors after seeing the colors in real life. Working with samples of other members' chips isn't the same as holding the two, three, or four solid chips in the colors you're considering without the distraction of other colors.

Get samples, and oil them. The cost is a drop in the bucket compared to what you'll be spending on the entire set, and less than that if you end up remaking one of your denominations because the color combination that looked so cool on the screen is disappointing in real life and under your lights. That, and real chips aren't lit from within.

I agree with all that have recommended getting samples :)

Unfortunately, shipping isn't instantaneous :(

The set doesn't seem to flow well for me. Not that it matters. I think sometimes that can be overrated.

@ChaosRock lent me his for a fee months. Dare I say life changing

I don't think the hundo goes with the rest in this set. It is the only "loud" chip in the bunch to me. Maybe go with regular orange to tone it down a bit.

That said I like that chip a lot, and it would fit if you threw a few more bright/contrasting colors on the other chips. Perhaps one "closer" to base chip color and one contrasting color. These are going to go great with your table

This is a great point, you do have a masterful table with mostly black and a silver pop. I would actually stay away from colors that directly match the colors of your felt/table, essentially staying away from as many blacks and silvers as possible. The bright chips and dayglo colors are absolutely going to look stunning against your table.

Not sold on them yet, just throwing out ideas. I think links is right about too much yellow, so I'd be up for changing the green chip's spot. Not sold on the black chip yet... I decided since I might be only going with 1 rack of 5k chips, I could likely go with a higher level... bumped it up a notch on the orange chip.

The edge spot progression makes me think of bicycle spokes on the wheel as it speeds up.

Onto the colors blending in with the table. I think my unique felt design might make this a challenge. I think the very aspect the of the felt that is sheer brilliance, the gradiated grey, makes it a challenge. Since in some spots the blacks blend in, and in some spots on the felt, the greys blend in... I snagged a couple examples of CPC chips in black grey hues...

I'm pretty firm that this tourney set should have a black-ish hundo. I think that no matter you slice it (make it charcoal, black, etc.., the base color is gonna blend in somewhere on the table. It should also be noted that when I host tourneys, it's always two+ tables, so the other tables are usually blackberry SSC.

I think the spot combos in my most recent rendering make the hundo spots work. They are certainly not set in stone, and the colors probably need work on the other chips as well. Any way we can get this hundo to not blend in? Make the red into a yellow color?

Pretty clear from those pics IMO that you're going to need bright spots on a black (and probably even charcoal) hundo.

This is the best one so far imo. Not a huge fan of the 5k chip. Primarily because its just to busy for me.

Then you probably aren't gonna like this version...

Back to the orig?

Your thoughts on any of these?

Or scarp the spot pattern altogether?

Change out arc yellow for DG Katy Cock and this chip is ready to ship. On your felt this thing will look like it is moving just sitting there

I'm assuming you meant peacock... lol

THIS? it's seems a little busy, but I do like the colors.

I think ditch this 2V spot pattern for the 3V or 4V on the charcoal/black chip. Or use at least a 3 or 4 way spot pattern to help set it out from the felt. maybe even 1/4 pie as well.....

Toying around with this idea...

I think the first option flows better with the spot progression (not that I'm an expert), but the second version.. I like the hundo with the 3v and the 500 w/ the 2d.

Go ahead and turn that T25 into a 2V and put a charcoal spot on the middle then you have gray or charcoal on every chip.......kinda tying them in with table a little more(y)(y)

I'm gonna miss that chip from post #54

Not gonna miss that post #54 chip. Too busy. just didn't fit.

I toyed with the idea of making the green better to match the spot progression... Still undecided, as it jumps it from lvl 1 to lvl 3.

Also toyed with the idea of reverting back to a DG green color. and I switched the hundo slightly (switched the spot colors so it wasn't as close to the 5k chip). Comments appreciated.
