Looks like the chips were used for fundraising by a (somewhat) sketchy non-profit organization that used high stakes gambling events to raise money.

While gambling or casino fundraisers are common, their cost structures seem out of whack — for example, in one event, they raised $25,000 of which $18,000 was spent on food and drink, according to this 1993 article in The Annapolis Capital, Sep 7.

From what I can tell, these chips are probably from around the early nineties.

Very interesting Krish! Excellent detective skills sir. From the looks of it, they were played 4 weekends before being shut down... must have been 4 old dudes in there... these chips absolutely will cut steak! Pretty damn Minty!

Sounds like they just had their 28th birthday!

So.. there's hope for the Hyattsville chips too? Lol wouldn't that be epic!

Thanks for sharing Krish, cool little piece of information

Anyone have any suggestions for THC $1s and THC hundos ?
Not overly interested in Jack's $1s, although those could work.
The original $1 is a 4d14, and for the hundos would like to stick to something simple like the $25 so it does not overwhelm the $25

My attempt... but feel like I failed!

Even as a frac in a "reversed edge spot progression" set.. I really think we need NYNY $1s either as a $1 or as the frac.

But finding anything 4D14 in playable quantities is probably going to be tough!!

Sorry we don't own any NYNY $1s for a mocked line up!

Also the Scandia is just sitting there because it is a shaped inlay Hundo... I think with the traditional line up it really need a Black chip with some decent color edge spots

I <3 the yosemite inns... should've grabbed that barrel at the convention, and the mizpah's

I personally prefer thicker inserts on the $1s to match the rest of the set, over something like Cinci $1s. NYNY $1would seem to be the most doable, although the white/blue combo would be right next to them and could blend too much. Really unconventional, but I think AS fracs could actually look cool here if you don't mind unleaded chips. Also, I can't remember exactly what they look like, but what about those chips y'all found with the hole in the center?

As far as hundos, I'll have to think on that, but I think those charcoal or black 4D14s I see floating around could fit well. I think Joeyshin posted them the other day for potential trade?

The CVB chips are a nice color combo here, but the condition does not match at all

I think it could work... other than the whites are used, the rest is dead mint... also I really like the Blue as a $1, which would also keep pink and red from being next to each other again. But a white quarter... hmm not a huge fan! Would love a purple 4D14 with yellow edge spots! That could be a bad ass quarter here... even a solid purple and stop trying to force something. Always down for solid fracs

Well...i've been looking for two racks of shaped & white leaded THC for ages...not many options out there was my conclusion.
GLWH...awsome set

Shaped doesn't matter to me on the $1... most casinos seem to use round on the $1 including the original $1s to this set

Not sure If I am allowed to here share this without permission or not... I just think the Blue will make an epic $1 chip... again a solid purple would work for me rather than trying to force something in there.

If lead is the only requirement..then you have more options :)
Blue chips are awsome but spot progression is hard with these....looking forward to your & Brie's choices

Love the quotes from the American legion guy. "They can do whatever they want!" noting no laws were violated. Never thought you would have to explain "freedom" to the American legion, but apparently so.

Ben, I’m confused about one thing: are you looking to keep the snapper as the snapper? Or make it the $1? So, in this case, the aztar would become the $1?

Planning on using the Snapper as a $1, we talked about leaving them alone, but who needs a snapper? Lol

Likely they will be a crazy frac or the $1, I really like it next to the $5 though. In our games $1s and $5s are the work horse so I really want to keep it in the bottom of the line up if possible. I know the spot progression is shot that way, but SB ES and others use crazy fracs... it has been done before.

I guess we are just trying to see options on both ends and find something that will work.

make the snapper the $1, and maybe a solid inlay or hotstamp frac
