Here’s a message that goes out to the friendly chippers across the sea:

I’m going to be traveling to Germany and the Netherlands soon for business, and I was thinking I would try to sneak away for some live poker while I’m there and certainly take some chips home with me… are there any chippers from the area around Amsterdam or Düsseldorf that know of good spots to check out or if there are any rule/etiquette changes between US Hold’em and Hold’em in those countries?

I’ve been eying the Holland casino in Amsterdam (courtesy of PokerAtlas) and it seems like they have a very interesting check-in system. Anyone who has experienced playing there before, I’d be very grateful for any insights!

Thanks, and happy chipping everyone

Find somebody that’s buying chips and carry them across for them. Use them until they get delivered. Win-Win. Saves them tons of money and ensures you hook up with chippers.

@MajorTom and @OfficerLovejoy might be able to give some advice.

You dont want Casino Chips from the Netherland or Germany. Believe me. There is a reason why we buy chips from the u.s. although high shipping costs and taxes.

At the very least, I’ll take a souvenir chip from anywhere I play. I keep a little collection of 1s, 5s, and snappers from different casinos around the world that I have played at

You could join maybe an upcoming homegame near Düsseldorf/ Köln. But we play low stakes.

Do you need your passport to register and enter the casino? We’ve encountered that quite a bit overseas and it’s a pisser when it’s back at the hotel in the safe.
Hi Kevin, yes, it's required at HC and like SwissChip said, in most European if not all casino's.

@Snapplefacts -> HC A'dam is pretty soft on the 2/2 stakes, week days are relaxed but weekends are very very busy and you will need to reserve a seat via the HC website or app.

In CH you don‘t enter a casino without ID.
I guess it‘s the case in all EU casinos.

Thanks guys! Just trying to avoid him being blindsided. We have been walking around so many times and come across a casino and just want to pop in and check out their chips - and no passport with us.

Don't intuitively assume the blues are 1s and yellow are 5s ;)

Do you know if I’m allowed to reserve far in advance or only day of? Translating the website from Dutch seems to imply that I can only book same day, which hopefully should be fine I’m an early riser
