Hi,

I have been looking for clear rules about the scoring and it's far from clear to me.

Not the counting per se, but understanding which rule applies to which variant.

Ex. is the "Big Gin" bonus part of the "classic" rules or not ? Some sources state this bonus as 31 where others state it's 50.

Is the defender getting the undercut bonus if (s)je ties ?

What I try to understand is what's part of the classic rules and what's part of the variants.

K.

I think there is a huge amount of variation in the scoring / payout rules. You could visit a dozen country clubs and find each one has different understandings of how scoring works - especially as regards wagering.

A player, new to a group, will just have to feel his/her way through the local customs.

I did some research and found that in the classic rules :
- tie gives the undercut bonus to the defender
- Big Gin (extra bonus for a 11 card Gin) is a variant. So it does not give extra point.

Then in the US, the common scoring is apprently 20/25 where traditionally it used to be 10/20.

This clears already a lot of questions to me.
