Don’t apologize, Anthony! Thank you so much! I’m optimistic that things will turn around! I hope to see more of your tournament hand posts soon!
Played a tourney and we're on the final table bubble, I have 10 bigs. Folds to big stack in the CO who limps, button folds, SB folds, I look down at in the BB and shove, he snaps with his limped
I was really sorry to read that you lost your job. Man, when it rains it pours, as they say...
A couple things that might help you with your campaign, because you asked. First, I would have your brother update the page with the layoff information. Second, I would have him remove "so that he may not have to worry so much about finances." I think it's too vague. People want to know where their money is going. If it's for medical bills, say that (what bills and how much). If it's for food, say that. It's a tight time of year for many, but also a time when many like to give. A specific ask and a demonstrated need will help you more, imho.
Do you have some chips lying around or something you could put together a charity auction? Maybe people who don't have the extra cash, because of Christmas, would be willing to donate a sample set or something and you could get some things for a larger auction. I have a couple things for you if you go this route.
I have never seen a GoFundMe take off for no reason. Aside from this community, have you tried promoting it in local FB groups or emails to family/friends? I think people who know you or are local to you might be your best bet. I have seen many people get help on various reddit subs. Here is a good list of resources. You should read each sub-reddit's rules before posting (some require verification or other steps). Here is a specific sub for promoting GoFundMe. You could also try r/charity. From my experience, the best traction comes when there is a good story and a picture included. Don't get your hopes up too high, it's not guaranteed, but definitely worth a shot. Look at some of the posts that have had success and you can get an idea of what works. r/beermoney might be a good place to advertise your artwork or pick-up some quick cash. You can do most of the stuff from your computer.
Wishing you the best for your surgery and a speedy recovery.
