Am I reading that correctly that they are $13/chip for the 500s and $5/chip for the hundos? Good grief I must be showing my ignorance here but I have a spot to buy some good Paulson chips for less than that... Why so spendy...?

365 black $100 chips ($5 each)
***180 LEFT***

158 purple $500 chips ($13 each)
***58 LEFT***

Considering the numbers above, people are buying them at that price. You can't buy Paulson chips retail anymore. These aren't exactly easy to find. If you can get better prices than this, please share your resources.

Welcome to the forum.

Just a little heads-up: you have 4 posts at this point and 2 of them have been critics to other members pricing INSIDE their WTS threads. If you read the forum rules, that's something that goes against the spirit here. If you find prices too high, do not buy, if you find you can get closer to the sellers price, send him/her a private message.

My apologies. I accept that critque, and apologize for my ignorance. I should have been more careful with my wording. I didn't mean to appear disrespectful, I meant more in terms of asking for education. What makes these so desirable? I'm trying to educate myself on the different levels and qualities of chips, so that when I decide to fork out the money, I know what I'm getting, and what I'm looking for.

I appreciate and respect the forum here, and again, I apologize.

Def understand your situation. A great place to start is search the forum and eBay for recent sales. Grand Vic secondaries haven't come up in recent memory. Higher denoms usually command a premium price, also availability, condition, and demand are big factors.

No worries whatsoever Brad... I totally understand...

Okay, answering your question is almost impossible but I'll try my best to give you my perspective in a few words...

Just like with almost everything else, chip pricing is a matter of supply and demand. On the supply side, it's been around two years since there is absolutely no official, off the shelve offer for new clay chips at all for the home market. Even before Paulson decided to pull out of the home market with their 'retail' molds, they had already pulled out of the home market with their casino mold, THC. In addition to that, other manufacturers that were supplying the home market (and casinos) with clay chips, BCC and TRK, had closed their door completely. On the custom chip side, for a period of about 2 years, ASM, the only game in town at that point, had very bad management and some people were a bit skeptic of ordering from them. It's been just about 2 years since a couple of outstanding guys acquired ASM's assets and started putting out great custom chips as CPC, Classic Poker Chips. Regarding used and new casino Paulson (like those Grand Victorias) we always had only one reliable source, TheChipRoom. During the past couple of years though, it seems it's been harder from TCR to obtain new allotments from casino so that avenue has been strangled as well. In summary, supply in general has been really, really short.

On the demand side, there seems to be a little recovery from the home market after the downswing coming from online poker, after Black Friday. Now, what makes a particular chips more desirable than others is a function of too many things to list but here are some: quality, durability, condition, design of the chips, scarcity, name of casino, availability of other chips denoms for a complete set, and the list go on and on... And each one of those is basically a personal preference that at the end of the day forms the total demand for a particular chip...

Hope it helps a least a little bit... Sorry for the long winded response and for some necessary simplifications...

Again, welcome to the forum man!

What makes these so desirable?
Short answer: Because they're cool..... and also brand-spanking new and in relatively short supply. Especially high denomination chips ($100 and up).

Most desired mint casino Paulson sets can expect to see $100 chips sell at $4 and up, $500 chips at $9 and up, and $1000 chips at $12 and up (more based on simple supply as anything else for the latter two). I would not consider the asking prices for these chips to be extremely high, and apparently neither do the buyers engaged so far.

Makes sense. Thank you guys. I assumed it had to do with S&D but I just didn't expect the significance. I have spoken with CPC about ordering a set, but again, not sure I can justify that kind of money on chips. I'm trying to decide how badly I want nice chips... I mean, I have some SWEET ceramic chips from walmart already.... lol just kidding. I'm probably going to end up with some kind of China clay or the Venerati ceramics.

I will now stop hijacking this thread to talk about other things. Good luck with the sale sir!
