I am so glad to have re-connected with this site. 10-15 years ago, I started to collect chips. No real reason. I just liked them. I didn't even use them. Just bought them and occasionally looked at them. I eventually boxed most and put them in the back of the closet. The only chips I used were a small 300 chip 1 table tournament Paulson Pharaoh set that saw use only 6 or so times a year.
Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago. The small group I play with wanted to switch from $20 tournaments to a $.25/$.50 cash game. I nixed the idea to use the Pharaoh chips and assign them a value of 10% of the chip's denomination. I told them I'd put a cash game set together. I dug through my closets. I put together a set using Bluechip $.25 Presidents and President Casino NY for the rest of the set.
I found this site in a search to find the proper Pelican case for the set. I was surprised to see that I have been a member since 2016. The recommendations here convinced me to buy a Pelican 1495 case. Pictures attached.
I have spent hours this week looking through member posts and it has given me new enthusiasm. I have gone through my closets and dug out all my chips. I had boxes postmarked all the way back to 2005. I have purchased Paulson chip trays from Apache Chips. I have vowed to put playable sets together, play more poker, and put the chips to use. If I can't use them, I won't confine them to my closet. I'll sell them and let others enjoy them.
Thank you all.
