Eh, the whole thing seems a bit mean spirited. Does anyone actually like the chip designs and want them to play with, or is just a joke to rag on a guy who had a very bad idea? I say let sleeping dogs lie.

I'd buy a dino accountant dealer button though.
This is a bit like the Hammer2171 famous thread.
The OP ended up inspiring the Scrub Donkey Chips artfully drawn by an overseas renowned artist and took it all in stride.
The end result was a lot of fun including the OP.

Ever hear of "it's so bad, it's good"?
Interesting that he appears to have an active web site selling poker chips, but never produced this set.

I actually forgot that this was also the Apex 1000 Birdcage guy.

I don’t see it as mean-spirited at all. It started out as an idea that was submitted for serious consideration that no one took seriously. But what has made the thread last this long is not that the design is great…it’s that the OP went so far with it, and mixed a number of different ideas all together, and put a ton of work into it…then vanished.

The interest now is not that it is a great set, but that it has endured as a fantastical idea. I applaud the amount of time, energy and determination to make all the parts, even in the face of a bunch of criticism.
This is where my thinking is too. I actually like the color and energy of the set. I think it is a shame he did not use the feedback and a shame the set never got made. I see this as no less kitschy than any themed ceramic set, like DDLM or Nevada Jacks or casino tribute sets. I think he had it right that the point is to have fun.

Heads up to those posting: if I get in contact with him I intend to refer him to this thread.

I sent a message to the person I think is the original designer to inform him of the interest in making these chips and to ask his permission. I made it clear the decision on whether we proceed or not is his. I also invited him back to the PCF community. I will let you know if I get an answer.

Sorry for the delay!

I successfully contacted @apar1t10n, who is still on the forum, but goes by @Mario Garza (he asked me to make his current profile name known in this thread). We conversed at length about the design and what it would take to get a group buy off the ground. He is a great guy, cool with the idea that Hard Candy has become a meme, and open to offering these chips to PCF members. However, we determined this design is not compatible with a group buy. But don't be dismayed! @Mario Garza has turned his passion for poker chips into a successful business...Aurora Poker Gear is a site vendor (https://www.pokerchipforum.com/forums/aurora-poker-gear.92/). @Mario Garza plans to make these chips available either through his vendor page here on PCF and/or on the company website https://www.aurorapokergear.com/.

I will leave this thread open for a couple hours (in case folks want to comment) then close it.
