First and foremost, this is not a knock on CPC at all; I love all of my CPC chips and will 1000% order more.

I store my chips in racks in a tool cabinet in the basement. The temp stays pretty consistent there, but I’m sure it fluctuates some.

Lately, I’ve noticed more and more spinners; not because the clay is warped, but because the inlay is popping up and is “domed”. Has anyone been able to fix this without ruining the chips? Can I pop the inlay out safely and put some gorilla glue on it?

Here is my 1k chips with issues…(out of 400 total chips)

And yes, that picture looks bad. I know if I pop the inlays out, they’d stack like bricks

I had a few spinners in my rounders set so popped out the inlay and glued them back in. This fixed the spinners and while I have never specifically tried to spot them, have never noticed them in play.

Can't 100% remember, but think I used gorilla glue.

What is the easiest/safest way to pop them out?

I believe the best bet would be to lift the inlay from the raised edge using a flat blade that comes with a hobby knife set.

Good luck, eager to see what works. Had this happen on just one of my Canoe Club chips but I just popped the inlay off and left it in my extras bin.

I used the below swiss army knife. Just dug the blade under the edge of the label. Planned on testing it on one chip but was surprised at how easy the label came off that ended up doing about 10 total labels.

Not sure if this mattered at all, but put a few dabs of glue on the chip then used an unfolded paper clip to spread the glue around the best I could before pressing the label back on.

Have not had the issue with my CPCs but I did have some *gasp* Monte Carlos, before I found PCF, with this issue and used an exacto blade to pop up the inlay sticker and a bit of superglue to reattach. Worked great and could not tell a difference

gorilla glue expands
I popped off inlay with hobby knife
then i removed the plastic mylar piece and discarded
put a thin film of model glue on inlay, then used some flat disc and clamp
on chip to flatten inlay. till dry , this was from C.T. days

I did a write up on this a while back Mark, yes it can be fixed making a jig. Happy to help brother
I have a handful of these from ASM days that are irreplaceable by CPC because of the color changes. I'd love to get as much info as possible on this stuff as well.

I do remember some stuff on CT a while ago, lost to the internet graveyard.

I found a few in mine as well, just swapped them out for some of the extras included, but:

I'd be curious to read this, do you remember where you posted this?

Pop the inlay out, if it's domed it already partially detached & should pop off without issue using an Xacto or hobby knife (ASM/CPC inlay pop out easily). Flatten inlay under some weight for a few days. Reattach inlay with adhesive (plenty of choices out there, gorilla glue, etc...), clamp if needed.

My set of 2003 ASMs came with a bunch of these but back then they had told me they always send extra chips to account for them. After I replaced all the bad ones and ran out of good ones I started popping the labels off and revaluing as people have stated.

Man, I'm a little worried now. I got my custom set back in October I think it was. I literally keep them in my living room in a case. Because I have the air conditioner in my living room lol and I want to keep them cool. Hoping this doesn't happen to my cheques. :(:wow:
