Royal Flush
I'm there now. Played event 25 Tuesday, playing Seniors on Friday. Dicking around now.
I've not played in any WSOP events; however, this year I plan to play in some of the daily deepstacks at Rio. How long do these daily tourneys run?
Of course I needed to see where you finished. Not bad man!I had a bit of luck on a run in 2011.

Thanks! Would have rather had Ben Lamb's result but it was a pretty amazing experience and I hope to play it again one day. Might be the Senior event by then but I will get to the WSOP again, even with the crazy rake and bed bugs, pretty cool to sit with the players I watch whenever I can find televised poker. I appreciate the props and @Psypher1000 for the post to re-live and share my 15 minutes of fame.
Holy crap, I almost fell out of my chair. I saw the €4,000,000 at the top and I thought that was winnings.
I had a bit of luck on a run in 2011.

Hopefully that will be the smallest stack I have for three days.
Looks like a retirement home convention. One of the guys was talking about all the scooters are sold out. He reserved his three weeks ago.
So far it looks like ~30% of our recently active posters have played in a WSOP event. I know some of those players - more than have verbalized in this thread - have cashed.
Hopefully folks keep this in mind when attending PCF meetups & poker tournaments. This shouldn't make anyone afraid to play in those meet-ups - simply playing in a WSOP event doesn't make one a "good" poker player - but most people aren't going to slap down the funds if they don't believe that have a legitimate shot of cashing. Either they've satellited-in - already an indication that the player has some skill - or they're confident enough in their skill to leverage it against the four- to five-figure buy-in.
There's also the testimonials of players from the NE crew, @DrStrange, et. al. who state some of their local games - even low-stakes games - are some of the toughest they've ever played in - and yet these players still are winning players. If you think these cats are stretching the truth about how tough their local games are, they're not. When you play against those folks & see their skill for yourself, you'll realize that those players are by no means misrepresenting the skill present in their local games.
The point of all this is that we're not just crazy chippers here - we have a substantial amount of actual poker talent here, even if it's not regularly playing high-stakes cash games or on the WPT/EPT. If you're looking to go up against some good competition but are hesitant to drop the cash on a WSOP event/satellite event, I encourage you to get to a PCF meet-up or two, meet some people here, and test yourself against them. The camaraderie is great, the food & booze is usually +EV, and the skill level is solid. If you do well, good on you! If you don't & are looking for answers, there's always plenty of strategy conversation that follows.
So if you haven't been to a meet-up yet, do it. Plan on it. Test yourself against crazy chippers and solid poker talent if you don't already. Find the time, find the money, and make it happen. Even if run-bad strikes & you get stuck for the weekend, you'll still have a great time - what's not to love about checking out some kick-ass chips & playing poker for 3-4 days?!
I won't rule it completely out, but an AZ meet-up is very, very unlikely to occur in the foreseeable future, no.Is this the pre advertisement for your official Arizona Meetup?
If I somehow left the opinion that any of my local games are remarkably tough, I apologize because all the games I play are somewhat easy. Some of the players can be tough, but the games overall are juicy (lots of rebuys) and soft ( large hourly loss rates ).
@David O can offer up his opinion, having played in a few sessions at my house. Perhaps the games are tougher than I think?
That being said - - - I can play well enough to keep my nose above water in most games. I also think that is generally true of the PCF players I have had the privilege to play with.
And even if you don't plan on making big bucks at the meat-up, you will have a great time, meet lots of good folks and play with some outstanding chips.
DrStrange
any game DrStrange is in is going to be difficult to beat, because DrStrange is in the game.
This, plus I think I recall that there is a low-stakes game you host where y'all discuss strategy among yourselves after the fact in order to help improve one another's game, which *should* inherently make said game more difficult to beat assuming that the students accurately apply the lessons to future situations. It's possible I have your game confused with someone else's, however, or that the other players allow that wisdom to leave their heads almost as soon as it enters. Some of the players can be tough
When I was seated between you and Mark at the Rumble last year, my internal thought was simply one word:I take a $20 tourney as seriously as a WSOP $1500

"Fuck."
Oh, I don't know about that. I was well behind on the final hand w/you and Forrest and just happened to catch a two-outer on the river. I played fairy well up to that point but it took a heap of luck to get past the bubble.Subtle brag post from the winner of the Rumble

1. It's fricking hot. That picture is parked in the shade.
2. Electric Daisy Carnival weekend. You might think about coming early to see this. If you don't know what I'm talking about just google image "electric daisy girls" it and you will see what I'm talking about. Every hotel lobby, sidewalk and bus stop looks like this for this week. It's crazy.
3. Chip Harvesting. Lots of worn out chips here, but one gem was the Casino Royale. It's a dive in the middle of the strip, but cheap tables and craps during the day, blackjack switch, and some nice new Paulson $1 for the taking.
