Hello all. New to this forum (obviously) and trying to figure things out. Long time player but it's been several years since I was actively playing. Trying to get back into it so I figured this is a good place to start. I will most likely post several questions so I hope I don't offend anyone. Thanks all.

Thank you all for the welcomes. I'm sure I will be asking some or all of you questions in the near future. Again, thanks.

Hello all. Back 20+ years ago when I played we just used cheap plastic chips. I can see things have evolved since then and so have the prices. Lol

I was looking at some sets on Discount Poker Shop and leaning towards an 11.5 gram set but not sure. I'm not really concerned about resale or anything like that. Just getting started.

Welcome!

Recommend start here:

Then have a think how many chips you need/want for your game and budget. If your budget is about ~10c per chip, then 11.5g is the way to go and it’s your design preference on what to buy.

As your budget increases, you get more choices. At ~25c a chip I like the Nexgens:

If it’s 50c a chip or higher, then you’ll be able to have some other options that are considered better here.

GL!

Depending on what you're looking at, they are probably slippery and stack like crap. There are deals available on real clay chips that function way better. Keep your eyes open and ask questions.

What stakes do you play and how many players? Cash or tournament? Some here might be able to point you in the right direction. FWIW, I actually don't mind Nexgens for the price, but they have some limits/drawbacks.

Welcome to PCF and good luck on the journey.

Thanks for the great responses. I will keep my eyes open and do some more research before buying anything.

As far as cash or tourney, I would love to do both but right now I'm asking around for players and in my area, it seems to be sparce. I just haven't hit the right people yet.

Thanks again for the responses.
