Hi everyone! Was thinking about upgrading poker chips, and this forum seems like a fantastic resource.

Nothing custom or expensive in mind, I actually kind of like the looks of 'Mint' and 'Milano', as they just look pretty neat and interesting over the most common beginner sets.
If there are any helpful threads regarding sites or things to consider when buying these types, feel free to share em.

Nice meeting you all!

Hello again all,

Got a chance to look at a few chips, and now I'm back to do some further research. The Mints and Milanos were really not for me.
From looking around here more in the past few days, my current preference that I am looking at are the Jack Cincinatti, Indiana Grand + random designs I've seen on these forums..

Right now:
-Looking for 500 Cash chips in hopefully the <$300 range.
-I know there are classifieds here as well as 'Tina' group buys.
-Would love to check out samples too.

Main thing: I just don't know what the next step is.

If you guys could point me in the right directions of threads + members to check out for how to proceed, it would be appreciated. I know all of this has probably been asked before on the forums, so I don't want to start new threads for info that is most likely out there.

Thx!

Welcome! I'm new here as well and have been going down the road of learning all the options, so will try and share my thoughts. There are many more members here who can give you even better advice.

Good news is there are good options at your budget of <$0.60 per chip. Bad news is that those options probably won't include casino clays like Jack or IG.

As you mentioned, the hybrids made by Tina are right in your zone. They aren't perfect, but are very compelling at their price point and imminently customizable. One can get a very nice replica set of his/her favorite chips at a fraction of the casino clay price and be very happy. You can get a sample from Justin Carothers here: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/samples-web-greek-cards-no-mold.117345/ The downside here is that they do take some time to get the order filled (seems like 2-3 months).

The other options are what are called "China Clays" which are also really plastic/ceramics available at vendors like Apache Chips. I haven't sampled them, but the consensus is that the Majestics and the Royals (slightly larger at 43mm) are very good for the price. A larger set is available in the classifieds: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...room-china-clay-chips-set-480-shipped.124402/

Hope that helps.
