Hey All,

First post here I hope I'm posting in the right feed.... BUT I'm upgrading my chips for the first time and looking to find a set for the $30-$60 ($60-$120 re-buy) buy-in home game I run with some buddies. Ideally getting denoms for either a 400 or 500 piece set (composed of 25cent, $1, $5).

Currently stuck between Milanos, Veneratis (ceramic), and the Casino Valentino (ceramic). I've ordered samples for the Milano & Venerati so I'm familiar with the look/feel of both.

Love the weight & feel of the china clay Milanos, but not sure I love the sticker inlays.
I know ceramic chips tend to last forever, but the Venerati feel a little slippery & I like the look of the Casino Valentino too (but am not sure if they feel exactly like Venerati).

I've attached images of all of them... would like some input on if anyone has had any of these sets & how they liked them +opinions on which you'd go with, thanks!

What’s your budget? Are you usually playing ~6 people or do you normally get ~9 people at your games?

For a set of 500, I’d suggest

100/200/200, 100 is plenty of fracs and you’ll need more $5 to cover any bigger nights
I always feel like I need want more fracs, I prefer 150-200, but if he’s sticking to 500 chip set, I’d tend to agree so you have more bank in your set.

Would like to keep budget around $275
If you’re patient enough, get some tuna customs for that price, whole bunch of predesigned chips or you can customize. Should be close to your budget for that size set.

At that price point, Tina chips are pretty good. You can get some samples here https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/samples-web-greek-cards-no-mold.117345/

The next group buy should be starting up soon and you’d get your chips in ~2 months.

Out of the ones you listed, I’d probably go with the Valentino since I like their look more. However you might find the feel of the Tina chips I listed a bit better.

Your break down is off, but could you explain your logic? Why a specific chip count of 400 or 500? Where did you get those numbers?

Hi & welcome to the forum. This site has elped me tremendously when I was a new member, decidin on numerous aspects of table, cloths, chips, cards etc.

It appears you have an idea of what you want for chips. I had slugs initially until I decided on a set of Tina chips ( no mold) in the Justin monthly group buy. I am very pleased that I went this way. it was $0.29 per chip at that time, the price has increased a bit, but still a great deal. The downside is it takes a few months to get the chips in hand, but I'm glad I waited, I love my Mirage chips.

You didn't mentioned your blinds, but I'm guessing $0.50/$1?

My game has 8 players, $25 buy in and we have $0.25/0.25 blinds so therefore my breakdown for starting stack is:
10 - .25
11 - .50
12 - $1
1 -$5

so for 8 stacks, I have a total of 80 -$0.25 , 88 - $0.50 96 - $1 and 8 - $5

My rebuy chips stack only use 8 - $0.25 13 - $1 and 2 - $5 ($25.00) I have 100 $5 chips for many buys ins only using the $5 if required.

I allow a rebuy of $25 once a stack gets to $6 or less, in between hands.

I know most on here allow the same as the largest stack, but we decided as a group to just do $25 rebuys.
As you can see, we have a very friendly type game. No one wins or looses much in ay of our 4,5 hr sessions.

Good Luck with your game and chip selection.
