Hello guys,

I´m buying a custom ceramic set for my home cash game. We play in Icelandic Currency 50/100
Min buy in is 2.000 and max 4.000 or avg stack

We are usually 9 player but I want to have to option to run 2 tables.
The total amount in play at the end of the evening is usually around 40.000 to 60.000

I was thinking about
500x 50
250x 250
250x 500

Plagues
50x 1000
50x 2500 or 5000

I have another set for tournament use so this is only for cash game. How would you guys set it up ?
I could also think about having no plagues and have 1600chips instead of 1000.

My advise it to build a set twice the bank you have ever had in play

If you double the players double this

One plaque denomination is better than two

The first breakdown is all you need, the second is what I would get, the third is the most efficient

200x50 400x100 400x500 100x1000
Bank 350000

200x50 400x100 400x500 100x2000
Bank 450000

240x50 340x200 420x1000 100x2000
Bank 700000

It come down to what you like, 1000 chip and 100 plaques for one table is a lot but I love it

Have fun

Very much what @Craig D wrote above. I'd go with the 50/100/500/2000 line-up as well, with the exact breakdown he already posted. And 2000 as your only plaque. The 500 chips will be the workhorse in your games, but the plaques will frequently find their way into the pot as well. (y)

Edit: Actually not sure what game OP is hosting... The breakdown posted is good for NLHE, but for limit you may want more 50 chips. If NLHE and the stacks tend to grow a lot, you may want to get some 10k plaques as well.

Personally I'd only get 50s (or 25s, but probably unnecessary in a 50/100 game), 100s, 500s, 1000s and 5000s. When you start messing with 250 and 2500 denoms, it gets hard to do the math. I even think 2k chips can make it tricky.

200 x 50
200 x 100
400 x 500
200 x 1,000
100 x 5,000 (plaques)

Gives you more than enough to run 2 tables, though your plaques probably won't get much play if you plan on getting all the chips on the table first.

Thank you guys ! This forum is awesome!

and yes it is NLHE.

The reason for the low buy-ins it to get more action. This group used to play 2000 rebuy.

I was thinking about skipping the 100 and just get more of 50. And ofcourse the reason to get nice plaques is to get them into play once in while ;)

So far this looks very nice!

200x50 400x100 400x500 100x2000
Bank 450000

With 1000 chip you have a lot of choices

You can skip a denomination if you want Edit: only skip second highest denomination

Just because you have lots of 100s dose not mean you have to use them all before using the 500s but you have the choice

We play small 10c20c NLH PLO with 10c 50c $1 and $20 plaques (do have $5s but mostly do not use them)

course the reason to get nice plaques is to get them into play once in while ;)

So far this looks very nice!

200x50 400x100 400x500 100x2000
Bank 450000

You could actually skip the 50 chips, and play 100/100. It shouldn't matter much to how the game plays compared to 50/100. Save the price of 200 chips, or get additional 500 chips (your workhorse) instead. :)

Hello again guys, this thread got our Pokergroup thinking that maybe we should change the format a little bit. Since we are buying custom chips there is nothing stopping us from changing the blinds.

We want people to be able to come in for 3000-5000ISK. We played on Friday and then the avg chips went up to ca 7500isk with 8 players that is 60.000.
That night we decided to mix it up and play 10/20. I would not say it was slow game, thus we have a lot of aggro players. But it was nowhere near when we play 50/100 Blind with 4000buy in.

Sorry for all the confusion but if we would change the blinds to say 25/50 wouldn't that be more logical compared to the buy in ?

Then how would you set it up ?

400 x 25
400 x 100
200 x 500

Plagues
100 x 2.500

How is that ?

While I'm sure that breakdown would work, you probably won't see the plaques much unless you kinda force them into play. Also four racks of 25's is more than you really need, but I do understand the appeal.

The close-to-minimum I think you could do with:

300x 25
400x 100
100x 500
100x 2.000 (plaque)

Bank of almost 30k, so nearly 15k per player with two full tables. Not super deep, but from the sound of your game should be plenty..?

I like that you're making the blinds smaller, allowing for deeper play. That makes the game much more interesting, as there are decisions to be made on every street. :)

But... If this was a set for myself, I'd end up getting:

400x 25
400x 100
200x 500
100x 2.000 (plaque)

Simply because my OCD likes the numbers, and it adds flexibility to the set. So basically what @Gunnar already thought of, but I'd def get the 2.000 over the 2.500 plaques (you get them in play more easily, and I just much prefer it as a denom).
