I figured, why can't my first post be pron? This is my first set, and I love it!
This set is designed more for board games than actual poker use (not that they can't be used that way). There's been an ongoing discussion over on BoardGameGeek for the need/desire/wish for a quality mini poker chip set for use with board games, because paper money, frankly, sucks. Problem is, the available mini chips that were out there are NOT a quality product, so if you wanted something nice to use for your 18xx game, you were stuck lugging along aluminum luggage containing full size chips - annoying when you're also carrying bags with 20-30 board games to a convention.
One enterprising fellow finally got enough gumption to make designs and have a mold made - even knowing this is a super niche product subset of an already niche hobby. But they're out in the world now - multiple designs for the "discriminating gamer". Mine are the "Rails" pattern:
Here's some change for scale, the chips are 26mm diameter, 4mm (chonky!) thick, and about 5.5 grams:
My 500 count set breaks down into a 400 count box for big economic games, and a smaller 100 count box for things with money, but not an economic focus:
Now this I can lug along easily!
