Recently cobbled together a table from a blackjack table a friend was getting rid of, and hosted my first game (…finally) a few weeks ago. Found out quickly that the set of chips I was gifted (500 piece Comie set from Amazon that I relabeled- cannot say enough good things about GearLabels, which I found lurking here) was a bit insufficient for a game >6 people.

I’m trying to find a good way to get about 300 chips to serve as the lowest denom (nondenom chips tho, I’ve got two groups with wildly different bankroll expectations) that are good enough but not going to bankrupt me. I got a sample set of the Slowplay Godel chips, and I actually don’t hate how they feel for 0.30/chip. They seem to be having some supply hiccups, and I don’t love the color options, so I’m curious what other things are similar from a cost/value perspective.

Or maybe a sack of money falls from the sky and I buy something off the Chip Room sales and relabel it. Who can say?

Welcome; which suburb? Columbia here

Not familiar with the chips you mentioned but my advice is to avoid all of the readily available chips in the .30 per range.

There are several games in the area where you can sample nicer chips @krafticus @Highli99 @MikesDad and even more if you’re willing to venture into the DC metro area
I’m up in Towson area. Not typically on the DC side of things

I definitely don’t assume anything in that cost range is going to be life changing, but definitely just trying to find the sweet spot for feel and not getting crazy expensive

Welcome, from Ellicott City.
We've got a pretty great group of players and chip peeps in the area, so if you ever want to check out some chips, I'd bet we have most every type represented somewhere.

That's what they all say.
