I am in for 4 entries.

All of these charities are great. My children attend a fantastic Chicago Public School on the far north side of the city called Stone Academy. Our parent organization, the Friends of Stone Academy, funds various supplemental academic and arts initiatives at the school, as well as physical plant improvements and technology investments. CPS is kind of broke and makes this money even more valuable.

Our school is a diverse mix of ethnicities and socioeconomic status. Many of the opportunities created at the school by this funding would be otherwise unavailable for many of these kids, and make the school a better place and better equipped to prepare all the students for high school and beyond.

I have seen first hand how my kid's confidence and attitude were transformed by some of these programs. It's truly great stuff.

These chips are sweet. If I win, they will be donated to an upcoming silent auction for the school, and hopefully someone here can snap them up. Happy holidays everyone

I'm in and have request his PP address.

MLAR - Maine Line Animal Rescue is my charity, especially since I have two of their dogs! We went in for one dog. He was supposed to match his picture: Shepard/Sheba Inu mix, looked about 35 pounds. When we went, he was full grown, 15 pounds soaking wet! The picture was a close up. He's actually a Chihuahua/ Sheba Inu mix. He looks like a dwarf Shepard!

A day after we get him, we realize he's not walking well on one leg. He was brought into the shelter just before Christmas that year. Busy time and they didn't give him the full work up. They sent us to an animal hospital for tests, etc., thinking it might be cancer. I've had this dog a week and I'm sitting in the waiting room, tearing up because he might have cancer. WTH is it with animals?

Anyway, it turned out, he needed surgery to remove bone that was causing pain. $4,000 or $8,000, depending on which route we choose. Now I'm really tearing up! Actually, I wasn't tearing up, because MLAR told us they would cover the entire cost, whichever course we decided - went the cheaper route, partly because it was less invasive.

I learned two things through this:

1 - I should have gone into veterinary medicine

2 - MLAR is a quality organization that deserves funding.

Oh and 3, Doug's an ok dog...I guess. But not too bright, as you can tell by the picture, where he's waiting for a rubber cat to drop a toy rat.

Im in and money is sent. I would like the donation to go to MD Anderson Cancer research. I have a few friends that have been diagnosed with cancer and all have beaten it so far. Just last week my buddy just got diagnosed at 46 with prostate cancer. Hopefully with the donations from around the world, they can find a cure for cancer..

46 seems really young for prostate CA! That's awful. My uncle passed last night from the same. He was in his 60's though.

I will be drawing for a local non-profit called Friend-n-Deed. I have been involved with this org for 22 years they deliver food and gifts to needing families during the holiday seasons.
Thanks for putting this together.

It bears mentioning, MLAR also helped me out with advise when the PCF tried to poison Doug. See, you all said, "use mineral oil on your chips". What you forgot is that Doug aint that bright, so when he tore the lid off the mineral oil and drank a cup, well, let's just say we locked him in his cage for a few days and called him slick...

National Brain Tumor Society

My ex's grandfather died of a brain tumor almost 20 years ago and I did a bunch of fundraising rides for them.
9 years ago, one of my dearest friends had a brain tumor removed, shortly after passing the bar exam. Because of those surgeons, she continues to be one of the baddest ass assistant district attorneys, keeping the streets safer in Boston.
A couple of weeks ago, a buddy of mine was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This guy isn't afraid to huck his mountain bike off of anything and he loves racing bmx's with his young son.
Scary stuff, having something growing inside your head.

I would also like to choose the National Brain Tumor Society.

My buddy/coworker was taken at the age of 35. He was like an older brother in the sense that we loved to bicker back and forth. It was always in good fun and he taught me much of what I know now in the field that I work in. I have dealt with death and sickness with family and friends but this one still really bothers me to this day. He was way too awesome of a guy and far too young. I have a picture of him and the crew on my desk and I think of him often. We spent many nights online gaming and we loved to trash talk. Also the pranks we would pull at work were pretty epic.

Please put me in for 4 spots. PM to follow.

Thanks
