What’s the general consensus on preparing the mint HSI’s for the felt? Do most of you guys clean and oil them right out of the box or do you just use them as is and let them break in naturally. Part of me wants to oil them but another part of me likes the sharp, chalky goodness of the chips in their natural state.

Always wanted a set of Paulsons (should have bit the bullet at Apache 10 years ago, could never justify to spend the 'big bucks')

Did the standard china clay (Milanos) to decent ceramics (Venerati's) finally to Paulson upgrade journey.

Love love love my chips. Bottom layer consists of another 200x1, 260x5, 20x100.

Room for one more barrell of $25s to make it 800.

Can't wait to start up my $2/$5 game!!

I asked this question in a poll a while back.

Personally, if they are truly mint, I do nothing. But if they look a little dull I might do the rolling edges very lightly.

I just throw chips on the table....use will break them in. If the chips are new they will now be "used" so If the chips are an investment flip i'd avoid oiling also, just like painting a house, sometimes its best to leave it to the future owner. Just my opinion. To each their own, It is exciting to introduce new sharp edge chips just out of the box. I would not skip that experience by simulating the chips having been used before they were ever used by using baby oil.

Well,

My poker table cost me thousands.

I'll be damned if chips with this "shit" on them will hit my felt...but that's me...

Proof is in the results..

Cleaned and lightly edge oiled EVERY chip I bought. I found the HSI to be very dirty...

To each their own I say. There is no right or wrong way, IMHO

Yeah you’re 25s seem considerably more dusty than the ones I received so it makes sense. My 1a’s seem pretty dusty but its hard to tell since they are white.

Yep, I also thought that about $1s and $1a. I got 400 of each

They are covered in white colored dust/dirt/chalk. Either way, they also needed cleaning

I did not oil any of my $1s. Just wiped with dampened microfiber cloth.

I had others too that needed help...

Side note, found that the 25’s have some of that yellow film that the snappers have. Not sure if you noticed when you oiled but @Ocharacato did.

Use as is. That's how I do it. Oil is for CPCs and chips that just had a bath.

Yeah those were my stacks in the pink chip game (2 different sessions). It was mostly dealers from Live that played in the game and they were awful lol

I mean I’m assuming this is how casinos present the chips when the hit floor unless they put them through some kind of rinsing process beforehand that I am unaware of.

Just bought a couple racks of HSI, lovely chips.

My cash set to spread .25/.25 to 1/2, could also do a STT t5 base. still plan to pick up another rack of used primary 5's if I catch them at a decent price.

100 x .25 (relabeled sherton roulettes)
400 x 1 secondary 1a
200 x 2.50 secondary
200 x 5 primary
240 x 25 primary
40 x 100 primary
20 x 500 (label over primary snapper)

also have 3 racks primary 1's not pictured. Going to sale 2 of them and keep 1 for a relabel project.
