Well, I’m currently about six months in and all I can say is, “Whew, what a ride.”

Nothing outright spectacular to show, but I snapped a quick shot of my current cash sets while organizing/cleaning, and figured I’d share.

I'm preparing a home display area, but it's limited to 10 sets wide and 6 racks tall, so that’s what I loaded into these Apache cases. Each set shown actually hovers around 1k+ chips (except for those with gaps), all told accounting for about half of the Paulsons I own in total.

The gaps are placeholders for chips I’m semi-actively seeking. Aside from what’s shown, another 8k-ish Paulsons didn’t make it out: including some tournament sets, two limit sets, and countless random racks, stalled concepts, or forever projects. That puts me right at 18k Paulsons, most of which are THC and leaded.

While it's a far cry from many collections around here, I still feel I may have overdone it a bit considering when I joined in January I owned a BCC set and some ceramics.  I hope to trim down drastically at some point, but as many know, it’s tough to let them go once you have them, even as my tastes have changed.

Anyways, I hope to update this thread with more (and better) pics, but that requires both photography and posting -- two things that don’t come naturally. We’ll see.

I’m grateful to have met many of you virtually, and look forward to making a meetup someday soon.

Happy to answer any questions and hope you enjoy!

We'll never turn down more pron!

In all honesty, really nice work in such a short amount of time. Hopefully you'll be able to fill in those racks soon.

This is similar to my experience so far - especially ones tastes changing/evolving rapidly. I've never been a collector of anything really until this. Nice work on the classic sets especially!

Not exactly a bunch of Jacks and Horseshoes.
Definitely not, but nothing "exotic" either? I fall into the leaded/shaped/casino camp, which makes hunting the obscure chip a little sticky, at times :)

I guess I should list the sets for those who don't recognize the spots. Reading from the top-left:
  • Aztar Missouri: I actually have fill-in $5s on the way and can't wait! Not too many options out there for leaded/shaped in sharp condition. Still looking for fracs, but these are my favorite $1s and a set I always wanted to put together.
  • Scandia Norway: Fantasy leaded set with shaped inlays, just traded into them so I'm on the fence. Need $1s to make it playable.
  • Lac Courte Oreilles: One of my first favorites on this site, a slow journey and still missing $5s. I do have a large LCO Limit set to tide me over, though.
  • Aransas Queen RHC: Probably need to make some fracs & hunt some $1s but my guys love this set as it's relatively local.
  • Outpost San Ramon: Decent condition and a fun set to toss around with the brown $1s. Had a big set but just kept 100/200/300/80/20.
  • Aurora Star: $2s standing in for .25s for the time being. I can currently spread two tables with these.
  • Mixed Leaded: I actually have multiple variations of this set. Shown is: Longhorn/Paris/Claim Stake/RVCL/Empress. Missing some heavy hitters because I'm hoping to make some of them complete sets. Considering converting this one into a Nevada mixed set. I have more racks of the critical denoms here.
  • PCA: My gracious, these are great. I went from ogling over them to inexplicably owning 1500 of them in the course of a week. Downsizing this set a bit but keeping 100/200/400/160/40.
  • Empress Star: Kinda dig the simplicity of these, making for another Unleaded exception. I can currently spread two tables with these.

Just get rid of those bastard Stars and the collection will be perfect!

The quickest dibser west of the Mississippi shows off his wares.

Congrats, it's amazing the quality and quantity of what you've accumulated in such a short time. Keep on keepin' on    :D
Wish it didn't have to be that way but pew pew :D

Jokes aside, I would tell new(er) collectors that being 1) Fast, 2) Lucky, and 3) PP Loaded is a mighty fine combination ... in fact, the vast majority of my keeper chips came from just that. Just hope I'm giving more than I'm taking, albeit often behind the scenes.

Whatever works brother, you're doing just fine! I think your order of being fast and lucky is right. Your kitchen is killer, by the way :D

Wait a minute…. What’s up with rhe set in the middle row left side…. It is the only set that is not 100/200/200/80/20…. An outlier…. Must remediate…

Only clay? Someone get this man some BUD JONES!

Good eye. They're Aransas Queens and I'm actually short a rack of $1s. I also need to create some fracs but @JeepologyOffroad set the bar so high that I'm hesitant to even try. This is my most requested set to play locally, though ... I assume because they're from nearby but maybe because we break into the $25s sooner?

Also my only RHC set. Love Aransas. Very underrated.

Insane bang for the buck set imo

How do you break into 25s sooner with more 5s?

Not more $5s, just more in the pic. All my completed sets have at least (300) $5s ... I'm just displaying 100/200/200/80/20 because that's all that fits on my shelf and therefore all I had out.

To answer your question, though, with no (or replacement) fracs and limited $1s, the AQ set just plays more like a 1/1. I know it's only $125 literal difference but practically speaking, it plays higher. Maybe it's an unintentional desire to have at least three colors in front of you, or maybe players are just too embarrassed to make change more often? I don't know.

That said, I do need some $1s so AQ fans please DM me  :ROFLMAO:

Some of you know I've been in the EU for a few months now, so haven't really had a chance to stay up-to-date on PCF ... looking forward to getting home, but will certainly miss the amazing people and the incredible scenery.

Where in the EU are you atm? This looks considerably nicer than germany right now. :D

Leaded sets ... going to call these “complete” although I wouldn’t mind expanding the smaller ones further. Here’s some pics (on awesome @rjdev7 mat!) and running commentary if anyone’s interested :sneaky:

PCA
These are just badass. Period. I actually have 800 more PCAs not shown (.50s, $1s, $5s) ... wish I could justify keeping them all, but I just don’t feel comfortable with that much invested in a single set. If only I’d discovered chipping even a year earlier! :)

LCO
I’ve been hooked since I first saw these and recently snapped at the chance to lock up a playable set. It stung but it was worth it! In addition to these, I now have well over a limit set of LCO $1s and 3-4 racks of other denoms … unsure what to do with those at the moment. Trying to decide if I should relabel the $2s to .25s. I’d *love* an extra rack or so of $5s, but who wouldn’t?

Aztar (L)
I had big dreams for this set and have been collecting $1s & $25s for a while, but the lack of $5s really dampens my desire to expand any further. 600 chips is perfect for most of my games, anyways. Using the Silver Palace $5s now and they’re a pretty solid replacement. If I could find 200 more, I have enough other denoms for 100/400/400/160/40, which would prompt a search for more fracs.

Mixed (R)
Here’s where I’m still completely hung up. Someone please prescribe me some leaded casino $1s to run with these crispy Golden Eagle $5s! I do have a broad range of mixed chips to easily interchange (Claim Stake $5s, several $25 options, 4-5 different BOHs, and lots of colored fracs) … but I’d love a set just for the Golden Eagles.

All in all, I'm pleased with my progress. Thanks to resident motivational speaker @moechar for helping me start dialing in on what I really love and ignoring the rest. At minimum, I can clearly identify my current stage of collecting & range of interests, which helps me be a bit more content with what I’ve got and what I’m working towards.

Keep chipping!
