Howdy to all the poker chip fanatics and enthusiasts from Vancouver! (2 Viewers)

Welcome to the forum!

@RoyalBluff's Mad Dog set is very cool! I'll be getting mine done soon with the label in my avatar. :D

Hi all,

I was introduced to here by RoyalBluff, and I didn't realize poker chips can be so gorgeous until I learn about here. Great to see this community and the poker chips you have and are building are simply so cool. Thanks in advance for having me!

Folks! This is my very good friend here @Prime37 looking for his first set of real chips, a cash set to be precise. Let's welcome him with some options on how to empty his wallet! :D

By the way you need 10 posts to be able to post on the Classifieds but I'm sure you can get there in no time.

Always good to see another Canuck on the boards, welcome! There is a wealth of info here, enjoy getting to know the ins and outs of this hobby:)

Welcome to Crazy Town. Good luck building your set. Plenty of great chips come up for sale here.

Hello and welcome!

So, @Prime37 , were you at the Mad Dogs 10th anniversary tourney a couple weeks ago? I was the guy who brought the chips! I may be able to help you out if you want to try out something custom....

Yes I was. You actually took a big pot from me haha. All good. A 37 denomination chip is an awesome idea. I can already feel $$$ wanting to leave my wallet...

I never understood why 1 was not a prime. It is a positive integer than can only be evenly divided by 1 and itself.

If there is no $1 chip, the lowest stakes that can be played is $2/$2, but he can make all whole dollar bets above a $2 bet.

There are no “fanatics and enthusiasts” here. Everyone NOT here simply has an accute disinterest in what truly matters. :ROFLMAO:

Welcome.

tl;dr: "A good reason for 1 not being considered prime is the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, which states that every number can be written as a product of primes in exactly one way. If 1 were prime, we would lose that uniqueness. We could write 2 as 1×2, or 1×1×2, or 1^594827×2. Excluding 1 from the primes smooths that out."
More reasons are listed, but my brain started hurting after a few paragraphs.

Edit: and welcome, @Prime37!

37 can be written 37 x 1 or 1 x 37... Or, if we're doing decimals like you suggest, the options are endless, beginning with 18.5 x 2.

Not quibbling with you and what you found on the internet. Maybe I just too dumb to know what I don't know.

They would qualify as the same, since the order isn't important. Since 1 isn't prime (according to modern definitions) it's 37 is simply...37. No other factor.

Decimals like I suggest? I think you lost me there. :)

Since it is written on the internet, it must be true. The article also says that prime numbers have included 1 in the past, it depends on how you define it.

I like to think of prime numbers as building blocks which are used to build integers using multiplication. E.g., 30 is built by 2, 3, and 5, no other combination of primes. 1 is meaningless, since it doesn't do anything.
