Limps to Hero in BB with junk. Hero X.

Really liking this flop though! HJ bets 3x pot. Hero jams with 2 pair. HJ is short.
I dont think he would limp 88 or JJ and I block 22 so only worried about J8 ...
HJ calls.

Well ahead here! 88% to 12%

Looking for that pile of EV in the sky someday. At least I got it all in good!

Bounced back with this one.

HJ RFI 2.5BB. Hero 3! on BN with TT to just over 3x. BB calls. HJ folds.

Low flop. V X. Hero bets 1/3 pot. V X/R to 3x.

Hero jams. And V calls it off.

Hero holds. Found that EV!

completely standard bad beat.
100% factual

you must be pretty new to poker if you think this is noteworthy enough to make a post lol.
Dig that probably wasn't necessary, but at the same time is not off base.

I'm not new to poker and you are a tool.
Unnecessary.

my bad if that came off snide, no reason to call names.
Trying to be nice & apologize

it's just not a remotely interesting hand and there is nothing to discuss, sorry for my honesty.
Not wrong.....

I'm sorry that I called you a name. If you dont like the post dont read it. I guess the forum is for entertainment and we need content for that.

Wow…someone is still bitter after losing a few happy meals. Lighten up. You started the thread!

well the problem is i didnt know i didnt like it - some of your posts do have interesting hands. but this time i got suckered into a bad beat story lol.

fact is, nobody who plays poker at all seriously enjoys somebody else's bad beat stories because we've seen it all a thousand times. so i'm doing you a favor here by making you aware. and they're even worse in person.

You could replace the Omaha label with limit hold-em & it would be about the same.

Nl players see about 10 or 15% of the bad beats as players playing games with lots more variance like Omaha and limit

Just today playing 8/16 limit. I am in the BB with AsKs. Utg raises, 3 callers, button makes it 3 bets, sb hasn't looked at his hand and announces "I have to get out of here, I am going to play this one blind and stay in all the way no matter what" he calls. I just call & everyone else just calls. 7 players, 3 bets pre.

Flop comes Qd,10c,9d. 2 checks to original raiser & he bets. All 6 others call so still 7 of us in there.

Turn is Jc giving me the nuts. Sb checks, I bet, 2callers, a raise, sb calls like he said he would, I 3 bet, 2 callers again The 2 better makes it 4 bets, sb calls(all in now), I make it 5 bets one of them folds, other one calls so now 5 of us in there to see the river. I am 100% sure that the 4 better has AK just like I do one of the guys in the hand says "come on dealer, pair the board"

River is 10s.
It checks around to the guy that said "pair the board" & he bets. I am 1st to act so I just call. 4 better on the turn also calls. The river better mucks without showing. Turn 4 better and I both show our Broadway hands and then the sb rolls over his hands 10 and then Q.

Crazy, right?

Sick stuff like this happens all the time when you play any game where lots of players routinely see the flop & you can't bet big enough to make it wrong to call....

How many cards total do you think you needed to fade here? All the whatever flush draw one of them had plus the remaining QJT cards....lets call it fading 12 outs to chop the pot, right?

I already posted this hand, but it's the most recent and pretty epic. (I also won $3700 for my troubles, but didnt know it at the time):

UTG limps
another couple limpers probably, comest to me on the button with :3c::3d: I raise to 5BB's to isolate one of the limpers
SB: 3bets to 15BB's....uh oh. UTG calls though, so we call to set mine.

flop: :jh::8d::3h: BOOM.

SB: continues for 3/4 pot.
UTG calls
HERO calls

TURN: :3s:
SB: bets 3/4 pot again
UTG calls for less (allin)
HERO jams for less than 2X
UTG calls and shows :jc::jd:

RIVER..............................................................

Of course I am fading a lot of cards to chop the pot so obviously it isn't all that bad a beat at all, but is pretty sick what sort of things happen when lots of players see a flop. Also pretty sick that the guy that wins the main pot is playing his hand blind and is willing to go all in blind, right? Clearly you want this, just not the result...

UTG limps..... blah blah blah

Obviously your hand is WAY worse, but that is why it is a bad beat hand. I have been part of 6 bad beat hands live and they are always like that. All the stars need to line up and then after that you still need to catch lightning in a bottle. That is the nature of bad beats for sure.

Nice to be at the receiving end of the $3700 though, right? Nice hand!

I got it in for my tournament life last night with A9 - guy calls off with A3. Flop: A98 - we are in pretty good shape.

Turn 3. River 3. I was 99% on the flop - now that's a worthy bad beat  :ROFLMAO:
Now that is an actual bad beat. Not all that interesting, but the truth of it is there are really no bad beat stories that are so there isn't much point of telling them

Everybody has one. I have several epic ones...most involve a nut flush losing to the straight flush and I actually lost money....thus sounds like whining so I don't tell those.

The above is different, because it is my actual biggest score in poker, so it's fun to tell.

I actually hit my fourth royal flush yesterday playing omaha. HOWEVER, I didnt get paid off on the hand...that's kind of a bad beat.

Agree that it was a touch overstated compared to a one-outer.
At least with 28 replies we've had some entertainment & engagement which is what the forum is all about.

Getting back to the original HH @boltonguy - notice that you say:
Really liking this flop though! HJ bets 3x pot. Hero jams with 2 pair. HJ is short.
I dont think he would limp 88 or JJ and I block 22 so only worried about J8

Yet, he actually did limp a hand like 88 or JJ - as he ended up with TT. This is what I mean by not assigning villains too narrow of a range. Just because you or I would never limp TT here, doesn't mean that terrible players don't do it (and believe me, they do it all the time!). Just also something I've noticed from your previous posts on other threads - you seem to use software, plugging in some pretty advanced calculations, but I would urge you to go back and (re)evaluate some of your underlining assumptions in these games. Also - if villain calls a big shove with TT on the Jxx board, imagine how many times this villain (or other villains) get it in relatively light in spots like this. I would suggest you worry less about the times villain has us beat and more on how to maximize gains vs these kinds of terrible/loose calls. Good luck!
