Hi all. I need help coming up with a name and logo theme for a Native American casino themed set.

A little bit of background. I'm in the processing of mocking up a custom hybrid set as a tribute to an Indian casino whose RT Plastics chips I fell in love with when I was 18. I took a few weekend trips down to Morongo casino to cut my teeth on poker (and blackjack) in between my weekly trips to Chumash casino, and had some of the fondest relationship building memories I have from my 18-21 year ranges because of it. I (of course) pocketed a few for souvenirs, but the casino has long since moved onto Paulsons. To this day, though, they've always been my favorite chips for feel first, and nostalgia second. My goal is to come up with a Native American casino themed set, as they are heavily scattered throughout the Southern California area.

Here's the originals for reference:

I'm having trouble coming up with a name for these, but wanted it to be related to some area of my life. I currently live in a city called Thousand Oaks, which I feel could fit into the theme I'm aiming for. I started mocking up something called the Oaks, but don't like it as a name for design purposes. (Big shout out to P5woody for getting me started on the faces!)

I also haven't found a Native American themed font that works well for this yet. What do you guys got??

Arrow in the Back Casino

I'll Make Moccasins Out of Your Skin Cardroom (might be kind of long)

Sacred Oaks Resort and Casino
It would be cool to use an Oak tree water mark that looks like a petroglyph.

Cool back story and a great venue. Through my job, I've been lucky enough to stay and play here a few times including a night where they had former main event winner Jerry Yang in the poker room for a promo - praise the lord!

Seems like you not completely sold on Oaks so maybe keep it as Sherman Oaks in the location (top part of the inlay) and go "full native" theme on the name.

**I have zero imagination so take the following for what its worth!!

Morongo is on Seminole Drive, so something Seminole related: Seminolie Trading Post? Seminole Outpost, Seminole Reservation Casino etc.

Morongo tribal groups are Cahuilla and Serrano. Tribal members also include Cupeño, Luiseño, and Chemehuevi Indians. Chemehuevi Casino/Nation has a nice ring to it, and Cupeno or Cahuilla Casino/Nation also work

Variations on more generic stuff like Eagle River, Wild Horse, Four Feathers, Apache Mountain, etc. etc. can be modified and will all work IMO.

Good Luck.

I like Ancient Oaks. Thanks!

Great to see you back in the chipping community! I always loved your "The Beach" set! One of my favorite ASM sets from the blue wall.
Hey thanks! Glad to see things are still kicking in the community :)

I agree that was my original thought, but I have neither the creativity or tools to make it. I'll just have to...try harder!

Thanks BC! Great to see you still actively involved in the community now that I am coming back! I like the Seminole idea. I'll have to play around some more.

Who needs creativity when you have google? This tree might give you an interesting start.

Thanks to everyone for the help so far. I did some research and found that the name Muskegon means "plenty of fish"! So I think I might go with that for the name. I also recently went back to school for a career change into software engineering, and got a bachelor's in comp sci in May, so I was looking for something to relate as a tribute for that. In my research I saw that the Native Americans saw the crow as the the wisest animal in their world, so might do a stylized crow or crow's head for the logo.

I have to be careful not to crowd the image too much so that it scales down to print size properly, but I think I will try to put the crow/head image between the location and the name:

Starting to revise for print size. The above are still too crowded and detailed for a 1" inlay.

You guys have any thoughts on these or this latest? This latest one is a stylized crow feather channeling the thought of a headdress.
