Agreed. Indiana Grand, it's not even close.
I’ve owned both and it’s not even close for me. Jack $5 and $100 are great, but the $1s and $25s are mediocre. I absolutely love the entire Indiana Grand secondary lineup and the primary $5s.

Ok for science. JD GO $25 was left out. Because JD didn’t have any 25ks I picked some relabel candidates.

To each their own. A chacun son gout.

I prefer the Jack chips. An advantage with Jack Detroit is that you could also get a tournament set, roulette set, dice, and gaming felts.

For a low stakes cash set, IG is amazing. @CraigT78 lineup is perfect and what I picked up myself.

For an upper denom tourney set, Jack Detroit all day and it’s not even close to me. Whole primary lineup (except 25’s) flows really well in my eyes for a modern set. Heck, even WW owned a set, which I believe is his only RHC set.

I really wish JD’s had a full secondary lineup, would have loved to see another .25/1/2.50/5.

I was going to say on second thought the Jacks have quarters, so that’s a huge edge, and I’d be forced to call it a push. But were those the really hard to get quarters that were selling for like two grand a rack before things got expensive? So maybe not.

I think a big allure of the Jack Detroits is that they never opened under that branding and all the chips were unplayed.

It’s all good. Shit happens. We’re cool. The 1k is being held together by the inlay but for comparing colors and spots I can still do a side by side lol. At brunch with kids now.
We need to cancel the person responsible. Where does he work? Let’s get him fired.

There were maybe 2000 of them total iirc.

The Jack lineup is very nice, but for the primary cash denoms in my game IG is better. It's nice that the Jack 5s are in better condition, but I don't particularly like red and yellow together on the same chip.

For tournament denoms, I think the Jacks are a little nicer.

Reading the comments, IG seems to have the advantage but the poll gives JD as the winner.

I don't have either, but I'll give my opinion :

I prefer the JD set! The chips are mint, original fracs, I like all the chips (unlike IG where I don't like the $25), the $1 may seem simplistic but next to the beauty of the $5, it's perfect.

Although I prefer JD, the IG chips also look great, especially the $1, $5, and $100.

IGs suck and it’s not even close for me. I had both sets at the same time and I sold my IGs without even thinking about it.

The Jacks got OG fracs. So cool. The Jack $5 is still better than the “sloth claw” to me. I don’t see what all the fuss is about the stupid “bear/sloth claw”spot pattern. It’s nothing special to me. Doesn’t speak to me like it seems to with 99% of chippers. I guess I’m not a real chipper I don’t know.

The Jack $25P is a bore, but I’m not thrilled about the IG $25P. As well, the Jack $25S blows the IG $25S out of the water.

I love the IG $100, in a vacuum. However, it doesn’t work in the set for me. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The Jack $100P fits better in the respective lineup.

IG $1000s are better than Jack. I’ll give em that much. But then, what’s with the $5000s???? They are quite simply, butt ugly to me. Jack $5000P or $5000S are sweet chips.

What else, I could get mint chips across both editions so I give the edge to Jack Detroit and it’s a big edge for me.

To each their own.

The only chip in this whole comparison I don't actually like is the IG primary $25.

Heads-up overall, both sets are pretty much a wash to me (although each has a few visually outstanding chips). Personally, I wouldn't rank either set in my top five RHC sets ($1 to $500 primaries or secondaries).

Rather than choose one or the other, I'd advise picking the most appealing chips that work together from all four sets, and then either relabel or inlay replace the resulting combination for continuity.

But realistically, most are RHC chips, so no place for 'em in my chip cabinet. And none of the 43mm chips in either set managed to break into my all-IHC tourney set finalized lineup.

What are your top 5 RHC sets? I'm curious.

This ^ is what I'm doing. Going thru the process now, but I'll end up with two playable sets I think...

JD. The only chips I love in the IG is the bearclaw $5s and $1ks. Now…the $5 IG claw is awesome and a workhorse chip. So I get it!!!

I have a cash and a tourney set based primarily in Jack Detroits, but with some Cincys and overlabels of other chips mixed in. Assembled 2.5-3 years ago, still a big fan of both.

Labels were by @Gear except for the Bounty/seating chips and 100Ks, which I made myself since I only did one barrel.

The overlabels FWIW are the fracs, $5s, $20s, $25s, T10K/25K/100K and Bounty/seating chips.

I have loads of most of the smaller denoms, less of course of the higher. I guess I should do a whole layout of everything at some point.

(My favorites are the Cincy $2s, JD primary $100s, and JD secondary 1Ks. These really pop in person. Cost me a small fortune to get two racks.)

I've owned a cash set of both, but currently only own IGs. Honestly they are both pretty great for mint/minty modern RHC chips. I'd say for cash 1/2:
$1: IG pri slightly better than IG sec/Jack
$5: IG pri and Jack pretty much a wash (both awesome in their own way). IG sec quite far behind.
$25: Jack sec (watermelon) miles ahead. Then IG pri. Then IG sec and Jack pri last both being pretty boring.
$100: Lots of good options. I think both IGs and Jack pri has lots going for them, and I'd be happy with either of those three. Jack sec $100 is pretty much trash.
$500: all 4 very underwhelming.

I do miss those Jack Detroits though..
