Howdy all! First post here, so thank you very much for your help.

I'm not currently looking to make any major design modifications to the inlay design or color choices, but want some feedback regarding the colored outline/stroke at the very edge of my inlays. I've followed CPC's layout template and it is definitely out of the red circle and at the very edge of the green circle.

I'm wondering, from those who've had experience with full-bleed designs, should I make the stroke larger?

How was the tolerance and accuracy on your particular full-bleed?

I really appreciate all feedback! Thank you!

Bleed is there to make sure there is no white space due to mis-aligned cutting.

I was told in an email that the bleed circle is 0.9275 inch for a 7/8 inch inlay design.

What I would do is have your stroke start within the 7/8 inch circle and then extend to 0.9275 inches.

The thinner the color stroke, the more prominent off center inlay cutting is.

There's another thread on width of borders explaining this.

Here's an example of mine:

Thanks for this example. This is exactly what I was hoping not to see. I can see that the offset can be more dramatic on chips that have an outer color border. I'm unable to find that other thread through search, so if you happen to find it, that would be super helpful.

I would make it larger. It's barely noticeable on the yellow chip.
It's looking like I'll need to do that, not only for the bleed requirements, but because it'll be more noticeable.

Have you tried white inlay background? It's all so dark.
I have. I'm biased toward the dark. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Very helpful. Thank you. I'm sure it's safe to assume that there will be a good number of inlays that are mis-aligned in my order.

In an ideal world everything is made perfectly. But that’s what I like about clay chips. Each one has its little “imperfection” which makes it unique.

@allforcharity One other note about the black background, it's considerably clearer without the CPC watermark, and without the JPEG/PNG compression that the Chip Forum applies.

Here's a new mockup, minus the CPC watermark, a little clearer, with fatter borders. It's within a tolerance I feel comfortable with, but am happy to be proven wrong.

I honestly like the backside, but I do see where he’s coming from. The thin lines next to the colored stroke outside of the do seem to clash and make the image feel a bit dainty.

Would it be possible to just keep the spade with the (forgive my ignorance) Asian lettering and make the stroke of the spade a bit thicker?

I really like your idea. What do you think of this? Instead of a thicker stroke for the Spade, I color-filled it and brought the stroke of the Asian Character up .25pts.

(As an aside, it says "Fu," which means "Good Luck" or "Fortune." Verified with a native Chinese speaker, so I'm not embarrassing myself :p. It's been my home's poker chip logo for nearly 20 years.).

I also increased the stroke of the card itself a little to make it somewhat heavier.

Thanks again for your feedback! I was pretty set on the design, but am getting more persnickety now.

I REALLY like that. Now that we are comparing the two, the previous design was very dark. This new design will definitely stand out.
