Hello everyone,

My name is Jake and I'm from Orlando, FL. I recently started going down the rabbit hole of hosting homegames and that has brought me here. I haven't yet hosted my first game, but look forward to it once I can get a set of chips together.

My current plan is to try and put together a nice low stakes cash set of Paulson Pharaohs for my cash game and get by with a cheaper dice set for any tournaments. Eventually, I'd like to flush out an expansive set of Paulson's without currency symbols, but still denominated, like the Casino de Mexico's or some such - undecided as to what would be best for that set.

Anyway, I look forward to being an active member of the community!

Welcome! I'd caution you against using the term "dice chips" here. I've got some Paulsons if you're interested - it's pretty much all I dabble with.

Welcome. You might want to consider a set of China Clays like The Dunes that Apache Poker is having made right now or from classifieds here instead of the D word chips for your tourney set. As you will probably read time and time again here get samples before your order. A few bucks will save a poor decision.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcomes. I appreciate the warnings against using the "d" word, I should have known better!

I did land a few auctions last night and am well on my way to having a nice starting cash set of the Paulson Pharaoh's - so I'm very happy about that.

A friend of mine from a home game has some China clay Pharaoh's and they're definitely nice enough. But I'm hell bent on making sure my tournament set doesn't have $ currency symbols on them, so I'm struggling a little bit there. Like I said, really not sure about what to go after for a nice tournament set, so I appreciate all of the feedback.

You mean dice? Oops I said the word dice!!! Anyway I am sure there are many here that "cut their teeth" on dice chips and some of them still have them tucked away in a dark closet. There are some who do not like China clay and others who prefer TRK's to Paulsons. Anyway I think there is a place for everyone here so enjoy it while you are here.
I guess what I am saying is some chips are better than no chips. It won't be long when you see the less than $0.05 per chip value in your collection go to +$2 per chip! Enjoy the ride!

Try taking a look at those from Game On Chips ...... even though they are plastic, they come in a wide variety of colors, and are real casino chips (you will see some casinos use them as 25c or 50c chips). I picked up a bunch of them to make a custom travel set and they are not that bad...also fairly cheep (many on PCF have some for sale). They have a nice weight and have some texture. Game On has them brand new...never touched by a greasy human hand. You can even have Gear make custom labels for you that do not have the denominations. Good bang for the buck...and I am a big Paulson snob (y)

Wow, thanks for the recommendation! I really dig the unicorn mold, and the solid colors of these. I just saw a really nice Grand Cardroom set go up for sale in the Classifieds, so I'm going to put my name in to that hat and see what destiny desires for me.

It's crazy, isn't it? I got a table off Craig's List and that kicked off the whole thing. I've already spent more than twice the amount on the chips then I did on the table!

Welcome from a fellow newcomer. In my short time here, I've already exceeded my original budget for paraphernalia. Best of luck to you. lol

Welcome, welcome. May your wallet never be the same. In fact, you'd be better off going to your local casino and dumping $20s on 6:5 blackjack. But then you'd have nothing cool to show off!
