King's Crown / Sharkey's: Background/value??? (1 Viewer)

Can anybody point me to forum posts or information discussing the history and value of Kings Crown / Sharkey's poker chips?

I believe there were original chips (which I think these are), and then there were secondary or some type of group buy chips (yes/no??).

Also, is there a way to tell if the Sharkey's label is legit, or did somebody relabel these? I ask because the labels are in excellent condition on 80 of the chips, but then so are the chips; thus, may or may not be original Sharkey's labels.

I purchased 100 of these 4 or 5 years ago and never got around to following up on the history of them.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh wow, thank you very much for the link. They were so new (both the chips and the labels) that I couldn't really tell if the labels were legit or not.

Damn nice find! I would have bet anything they were after market labels by the looks.

That was what I thought too. But the chips appear to be unused, so I thought that there might be a chance of the labels being legit.

I was going to ask you if the label is on both sides on all of them or if it was only on one side??

The labels are on both sides on 98 of the 100 chips, and on one side on 2 of the chips. It looks like the seller (or somebody that owned them before me) peeled the labels off to see what was underneath. Also, 20 of the chips are oiled, but appear uncirculated, and 80 are not oiled and appear uncirculated.

Yeah if there are no denominations showing, they were probably roulette chips which is what I thought I had heard before

Thanks!! I was wondering why the heck they didn't have any denominations on them. That made me even more suspicious of the legitimacy of the labels.
