Playing 1-2 live, nine handed. It is just past midnight, the two table game has consolidated into a single table. The session has turned into a normal for us session. Big losers, big winners, good fun, good food and lots of action.

This is going to be a funny hand for Hero. I'd swear hero has played this hand before, but I can't remember wheather Hero was the villain or Hero way back then. {even down to the suits of some of the cards, a little freaky.}

Cast of characters:

SB playing $150 is Crazy Jr. It has not been his night. Played poorly. Bad luck + bad cards. On donkey tilt - which for him means passive calling station.

BB is the Cougar playing $500. Tricky, trappy passive ultra loose. Plays hands one or two streets late, bets draws check/calls with good hands.

UTG is playing $900. He is a skilled LAG - a young gun type of player. So far tonight has worked out well for him.

MP is the ultimate calling station with $250. It hasn't been the best night to be loose/passive. Dribbled chips all night but did catch a few LAGs on bluffs.

Hero is the CO playing $400. It has been a night of ups and downs. Hero is a little ahead but still smarting from middle set losing to the nut flush. Hero has been a little passive this session, likely no one noticed.

Crafy is the button with $600. He is on a volitile night. No doubt having fun playing his LAG style. Lots of big fights but basically at breakeven. Likely drunk.

The hand:

UTG opens for $7, his standard raise. Table standard is more like $15. UTG is not possitionally aware when raising. Likely thinks he is so much better than the field that it doesn't matter.

MP calls. Action on Hero holding :ks: :qs: Fold, call or raise? If raising, how much?

For what it is worth, I'd expect calls from Crafty and Crazy Jr, sometimes raises. The Cougar is calling / folding 50/50. He minraises with AA/KK

I call and see what happens. Your hand needs help and is a nice drawing hand. You're not in position on crazy who will call your raise anyway

I say flat with the crazies behind. We flat with intention of calling a 3 bet from one of the crazies. UTG raise is probably pretty wide based on info. KQ suited is fine to see a flop with good position.

*** On to the flop ***

Hero calls, so does everyone else. Six way action, $42 in the pot. Hero holds :ks: :qs:

Flop: :js: :ts: :7h:

Crazy Jr. and Cougar check. UTG bets $30. Calling Station in MP folds. Action on Hero, fold {not ever}, call or raise? If raising how much?

Crafty already has chips in hand to call $30. Looks like Crazy Jr. is folding. Cougar isn't showing anything.

*** OK! This is going to be spicy ***

Hero raises to $100, a $70 raise into a $102 pot.

Crafty ponders a while then sigh/folds. Folds around to UTG who raises to $250, a $150 raise into $242 pot.

Should Hero fold, call or jam? Any thoughts on villain's range?

DrStrange

Jam, easy. You're behind a few hands, but it sounds like his range is much more than that. And with the $242 + already in the pot, you're getting the right odds to call against even those hands (except As9s). 35% against A9ss, 42% against a set, 42% against Axss, 45% against 89ss, 46% against AAsx. You're 50/50 vs. AsKx, a 52% favorite against AKxx, 55% favorite against KK, 63% favorite against QQ, and freerolling vs. KQxx.

UTG is the skilled lag. He can be putting you to the test, but I doubt this now with all the re-raising action. I doubt he's putting you on a steal. Looks like he has a hand. Two pair or a nut flush draw seem like good candidates.

Not sure what Heros image is. Does the LAG think he can push you around?

I don't think flatting is an option. With the Royal / Straight Flush draws I think you have plenty of equity to jam in most cases.

If you flat and brick you have $250 in the pot with 150 behind. Just seems awkward. You have a sick draw lets just jam.

Very small chance he folds...so we're gonna get action on all $400

*** Results ***

Hero shoves, villain snap calls.

Hero holds :ks: :qs:
Villain mumbles something about a big draw and tables :as: :8s: Ok that is a big draw, nut flush plus gutter-ball straight.
That's a sorry situation. As I recall now, I was the player with the ace high flush draw and this same villain has the king high straight flush draw. I won if memory serves me well (it was a long time ago)

The board runs out <:js: :ts: :7h: > :qh: :7c:

Better to be lucky . . .

My only struggle in the hand was the first flop action. Does hero take a lower varaince passive line and play a multiway hand or does he try to get more or his stack in the pot while his equity is highest? By the next day, I was leaning towards just calling and letting the other villains toss in their $30 and draw at what looks like 15 outs. A turn bet isn't likely to be so big that Hero doesn't have odds to call or Hero can make his semibluff on the turn with a much larger pile of dead money. Plus a big turn raise looks a lot more like a set than a similar action on the flop.
