Las Vegas Sets Only PrOn Thread (9 Viewers)

I'll post my updated set (last pics were Sept 2017 and I added just a few more chips to the set since) :)

The two PH white chips are going to be relabeled as $1000 and those butterscotch chips on the left are going to be labeled as "Show'em" chips (labels being made shortly). Roulettes and cased chips on the right are my card caps (Paris Jeton, Coke Giraffe, Caesars F1 and the Bellagio roulettes with my initials CB)

It’s been a while since me or anyone else posted in this thread. Thought I would update it with a recently acquired South Point casino tournament set. The tournament director told me these have been in use for the past 16 years in their nightly tournaments.

I acquired over 1000 chips. This is what I have cleaned so far… Definitely not in terrible shape to be used for that long in Vegas. Some hot stamps show fading and most of the Bud Jones T1000s are totally gone.

Love that blaze orange

Sounds like there's interesting story details behind this acquisition!

I don't think the T1000 are Bud Jones. They have the pattern of RT Plastics, and note how the suits on opposite sides of the chips are the same. The Bud Jones suits mold has different suits on opposing sides.

I'm quite surprised that they use such a cheap-o plastic chip for the high value tourney denoms.

The South Point continues to use cheap-o slugs in tournament sets.

It's sad, because it is a fun, relaxed room.

@Ben8257 & @FordPickup92 have the original story and are MUCH better story tellers than me. But basically they sold the entire rack to CCA members at the convention poker tournament.

Thanks for the info on the t1000’s. They are heavy plastic. I almost told them to keep those because I didn’t see the stamp and just thought they were spacers. Most are completely worn off. The poker room manager said my stash was the last of all the chips and I had to take them all, glad I did.

It felt a bit weird walking out the front door with almost 1100 chips but no one said a word.

Essentially the first night we were there Ben and I walked upon a table (in the poker room) of CCA members all bamboozling over racks of chips, we walked over and I was chatting a bit with them from the rail, when asked if we were members I said yes and we were offered to purchase some chips. When I walked around to the table they had racks of retired south point tournament chips out. The older gentleman were all sorting and trying to pick and choose what they wanted, I asked the price and if I could buy 2 racks of each, I recieved lots of funny looks and the gentleman running the operation/cage said sure if you have cash come talk to me.
The chips had been retired for a year or so and he wanted them gone from the cage. We took our haul and left. The next day I inquired about getting the remaining chips and the folks at the desk gave me lots of funny looks, I'm guessing they weren't in on the sale lol. With no luck that day I went back down the next day, was able to speak with the same gentleman as before and pick up a few more racks and get David in there for what was left of them.

Our first haul is here

And we went back and reloaded on several more racks of each denomination. Still need to clean them all up, and are considering some plaques for the top end to make it playable. All the chips came with the racks as well, we didn't have to return them. Was definitely odd walking out of the casino with them, but noone said a word
