Here is the latest Pelican clone case from Sam's Club.

Members Mark 24" rolling case.

It is the same size as a Pelican 1600 (external dimensions 24.25" x 19.43" x 6.9" - internal dimensions 21.43" x 16.5" x 7.87") but comes with wheels and a handle. Wasn't able to find any of these available in store/in club locations and only way to place and order was to ship it, wasn't even available for delivered for in store pickup. Will let you know more details when it arrives but for $58 (with the shipping) is a bargain compared to $165 for the Pelican 1600 plus the wheels.

Still haven't mapped out chip layouts yet but here are a few pics to show comparison size wise between the 24" MM case and a Pelican 1510. Considering you can put 1500 chips in racks (more in boxes) in the 1510 who know how many you can cram in this baby. The 24" dwarfs the 1510 and comes with wheels so you can load it down.

How sturdy is the retractable handle? Does it seem to be designed to adequately deal with a case full of chips when extended?

Similar extended type but not a solid piece handle like the Pelican (you can see pics in the link from the OP). Feels like it would but I'm not able to load it down with chips right now (not supposed to lift anything heavy or strain at the moment). Seems constructed well, I'll try to remember to take some pics of the handle tonight.

Crossposted from another thread.....

Ok did some simple layouts. First the MM 24" P&P foam template is 34x26, each square in 9/16" in size. The MM foam squares are not always the same size as Pelican/other brands foam squares so YMMV when using the template for any other brand besides MM.

Second, these layouts are made to fit my racks. You will need to measure and adjust for whatever racks/boxes/etc. you plan on using as all racks are not equal in width/length. I use 66.7 & 67.7 branded racks from Spinettis which fit "snugly" in a 5x14 hole in the MM foam. I also use Matsui 43mm Clamshell cases which fit "really snug" in a 5x15 hole in the MM foam.

Here is one for a 800/1600/2400 layout depending on whether you go 1/2/3 layers deep. If you go 3 deep you will be cutting through the solid foam layer piece that isn't P&P. If I want to fit 43mm racks I would remove the middle row of support foam.

And here is a 1000/2000/3000 layout for maximizing space. I could use the bottom 2 rows for 43mm racks is needed.

All this is on paper, I haven't done any physical plucking with the 24" yet. And like i said all this is based on my racks & MM foam, YMMV depending on whatever brand of racks/boxes/etc... you use.

The handle seems more than sturdy enough for a fully loaded 1800-2000 case. Of course until I load it up I won't know for sure but I don't see any issues (unless you are trying to drag it across a boulder field or something).

I'm looking into getting one of these and was wondering if you could follow up with your findings and more pics :-)

What other pics are you wanting to see? I haven't plucked one of the 24" case yet but I'd be happy to take some more pics of the case.

Ah, well I was curious to see how you did the cutouts, how many chips you got in there, and how the case holds up under that load. Sounds like you haven't gotten there yet...

"In theory", I love that phrase, the 24" case should work as mapped out in the diagram in post #5. I've plucked other MM cases and they all use the same size foam cubes. I'll be sure to update the thread when I finally start working on the case (but I don't know when that will be, sorry). I just bought some Plasti-Dip the other day so my next project is spraying down one of my already cutout cases 16" or 20"

Here is a MM 16" case configured for 800 chips, card setup and room for DB's, etc.... This is my favorite setup/configuration.

And here is a MM 20" case quickly configured for 1200 chips with room to spare for cards, DB's, etc...

This 20" is very heavy with 1200 chips and no wheels. It's a beast to move around so i haven't done anymore of the 20" cases.

I have no doubt that the MM 24" can easily hold 2000+ when configured as above. And with wheels it should be a lot easier to maneuver around.

I have my MM 20" configured to hold 1400 chips in a slightly different configuration. I have 5 racks across (L to R as pictured) and two racks rotated 90 degrees running lengthwise "underneath" closer to the handle...each rack stacked 2x high. The 20" is pretty damn heavy with 1400 chips, but the handle is pretty stout and it's not too bad for transporting.

I would really like to find a good replacement foam for these, as I'd like to re-configure and plasti-dip....I'm not sure if Sam's Club even makes replacement foam though.

I may have a layer of unused pluck foam for a 20” MM. I cut the non-pluck layer and decided later I probably won’t use the case for chips.

Cool, let me know if you do!
