Let's talk about Horseshoe Cincinnati chips (3 Viewers)

Well I was excited about receiving these on Thursday...

Now I'm coming to the realization that I'll have more chips to clean by hand.

Ahh what the heck I'm still excited.

Definitely clean the $1s as recommended above.

Get an ultrasonic cleaner, It will cut your time significantly!!!

People keep telling me this, and I keep saying "well it's only 1 set so I won't need it again..." but now I'm on set 3

I keep circling back to thinking about how many chips I could buy with the money it'd cost to buy a cleaner.

Lol every extra not needed thing I buy is always compared to how many chips I could get with same money.

I have 20 of the uncirculated 5's and 60 of the secondary 60's

If you are like the rest of us this is only the beginning. 3 sets turns into 30 really quick.

Depending on the chips and the cleaner, 50-200 chips.

What might be more relevant is how much time you save cleaning with the ultrasonic cleaner vs. cleaning by hand, particularly if you put price on your hourly labor.

For anything totaling more than 300 chips, I can't recommend an ultrasonic cleaner enough.

I keep telling myself that my time is worthless  :ROFLMAO:

So far I've hand cleaned (approximately) 1800 chips. The 400 or so on the way shouldn't be too tall of a task.

I think the cleaner will be my next chip-related purchase. That is unless another big casino sale happens  :whistling:

Respectfully, I think you have to clean the ones. The white on the faux inlay really stands out against the dirty white clay.

Oh, no, for sure you'll have to clean them, that's just what's preventing me from buying them. I've cleaned thousands of chips by hand over the last 3-4 years and I'm done with that chapter. Considered an ultrasonic but just don't see too many dirty chip purchases in my future. Lazy days are here again!

Just a teaser pic until I get off of work and can open everything.

I've only unwrapped the sample set so far.

Edit: A couple more quick photos, couldn't wait! Only 1 casualty that I've found at first glance (and there was an extra chip in the box as a replacement, Todd is awesome!)

Mine are sitting on the counter at home. My wife got them from the mailbox at lunch. Can't wait to check them out.

Not looking forward to cleaning them...uhhhggggg...

I'm going to be out of town this weekend and won't have time to clean the chips tonight, so no new photos :(

Here is my breakdown:

$2.50 - 100 (Will be relabeled as quarters, have 1 broken chip + 2 extras)
$1 - 200 (+20 extras)
$5 - 80 (+20 extras)
$25 - 20 (+5 extras)

This should be more than enough for a 1-table .25/.25 game which plays relatively small and usually short handed.

I got more extra 5s relative to the other denoms because I was prepared to receive commemorative chips mixed in, but I had 0 in my lot. I normally go for 10% extra with a minimum of 5.

The snapper I got in my sample set was GORGEOUS like it had never been touched, and I'm hoping the rack cleans up to look similar. It kind of made me regret not trying to build a pink chip set, but I definitely didn't have the budget for that anyway.

Upon first glance there aren't too many mint chips mixed in with the racks, which should be good news for people ordering sample sets! My sample set was in good shape except for a nick on the face of what appeared to be an uncirculated $5, and a big slice on the face of my primary $25 (edges were sharp though!)

The secondary $5k is gorgeous in person and is my favorite chip from this set, according to my wife.

I'm looking for one each of the commemorative $5 to go with my sample set. If anyone can help me out let me know.

Exactly this for me as well please! I can trade normal $5s or just buy outright.

Got my racks of ones this evening, concur with ^^^^ the ones are in slightly better shape than Cleveland. They'll definitely need to be cleaned but even just a bit of hot water and a magic eraser had a few chips spotless with a few wipes. Doesn't seem to be as much caked on. Hoping my new ultrasonic cleaner has them cleaned up in a snap.

They are great. I'd say they are also in better condition than the Cleveland 5s a 1s. Slightly.
I would agree with that, I think the best cash set is Cinncy and the best tourney set is Cleveland

I understand your thinking, but if you do go down the road of multiple sets over multiple years, then an ultrasonic pays for itself .

Mine should arrive today. I just might have to leave work early today...

I just posted some secondary $25s and $500s for sale in the classifieds. But I'm using the $100s as $20s for my snapper set :)

Set looks great. When playing with Snappers is it easier to use a $25 or $20? Or does it not really matter, and more what you are comfortable with - cutting 4 or 5 stacks?

My samples have arrived! The condition of the selected chips is definitely top notch, thanks Todd! Seeing them in person also confirmed that I'm glad I didn't drop a bunch of money on lots of sets or racks of $2s. I think I would have been disappointed. Without an attachment to the venue itself they're just OK. The $100 secondaries are sweet but very similar to CLE which I do have a connection to and have plenty of chips for.
