But while we are derailing @k9dr's thread, the 1956-1960 Canadiens won 10 straight post-season series en route to five Cups, losing in the opening round in 1961. The 1976-1980 Canadiens won 17 straight postseason series; after four Cups, they lost in the second round in 1980. The 1980-1984 Islanders won 19 straight series. They won 4 Cups before being beaten by the Edmonton Gretzkys in the Finals in 1980.
The Islanders have a better case for being the all-time best hockey dynasty.
Which is tied with the Canadiens four-peat from 1976-1979 and behind the Canadiens five-peat from 1956-1960
