I get it, I also watch Andrew as well as Brad. I find that Mariano's videos have really good production quality and his choices that he makes are quite interesting.

... But I think this is the first time in several years watching these poker vlogs that any of them ever actually mentioned the chips.

I saw this and thought the same thing. I've broached the subject of quality poker chips at the card table, casino and home game, and most don't care. But there's nothing finer than getting to feel and play with fresh minty chips.

I was watching the YT ytd and I remember replying to him myself those are call Mint NM Chip and I give a shit thinking Mariano may actually be a Chipper by heart

I do like watching and hearing how he thinks. I tend to be far more cautious and tight, so its definitely interesting to see him play.
I'll bet my swings aren't as big, but I'm not extracting nearly as much out of the game as I should either.

Between him, Brad, and Andrew, I try to as myself WWMBA do when I play? The problem is that I play with a bunch of calling stations that always catch, so it's not exactly the best method. I think these guys play against other players that notice things, like when a player has been really tight and has credit at the table for a bluff raise.

My core group is pretty similar. Yes, they'll catch sometimes, but there's a few ways around that. When up against sticky players, make them pay more to see their draws when you have your made hands. Raise and three bet pre flop relentlessly. Increase the sizing of your betting. When you are on a draw yourself, bet your own draws more to juice up the pot and isolate to get it down to heads up or three ways at worst. When you do hit them, you'll get paid off light from these players.

Mariano definitely shows his losses too. He got his soul crushed by Reza at Hustler no more than three weeks ago. He's a good 5/10 player, so so 10/20 player right now, but not ready for the prime time yet. His bread and butter is making money off of 5/10 games. Definitely good enough to make a decent living, but the 10/20 and higher grinders will eat him alive. He makes some really bad hero calls and punts on the river, but to his credit, he plays a pretty balanced range and has the capability to get pretty crafty with his betting and raises.

TPTK is a good hand but against opponents with K3os in range it’s probably not a 3 streets of value hand. Weird two pairs will be common, so you want to make your profit and bet bigger on hands you can beat a weird two pair.

Yes, but then if I wait to bet bigger on hands where I can beat weird 2-pair, I'll just bleed out all night. Another case is where the Villain has in early position and calls a 3-bet pre-flop raise with 2 opponents and he flops a straight with ... Sure, we suspect a straight might be possible, but who the hell has a range so open so randomly?

Anyway, back to the point, Mariano broke my heart b/c he said nobody cares about the chips. I think he's a closet chipper and is just trying to look normal to the Interwebs...

Not saying don’t bet, but these are good boards for adding some checking streets and betting smaller.

The 457 flop smashes this type of opponents 3 bet calling range so you’ll want to play accordingly.

Players like you describe can be DEMOLISHED once you learn how to exploit their errors.

As for Mariano, I love him too and actually took his comment to mean he hasn’t discovered there are people like him who love sharp edges on clay chips. I commented on the video and told him to check out this forum.

I think he meant he realizes that (most people) don't really care about the chips (inferring that he does care.)

I think you may be spot on that he's a closet chipper -- I've seen a few of his videos, and they have the best chip pr0n by far -- he always seems to put in well framed close up shots of chips in stacks, racks, or on the felt, that last many seconds longer than other poker vloggers.

I saw a couple of his early videos soon after he started the vlog, and he's definitely improved as a vlogger with much better speaking, production, and probably even poker playing. I'm very impressed with his production and analysis on recent videos. He's probably the most improved vlogger I've seen and am still interested to check out.

Yes, exactly! He does some nice artistic work with the chips in many of his videos. Just look at this video; he's got those dreamy $1ks sprawled out all sexy at the 0:20 mark. Maybe he doesn't even know he's a chipper at heart; he just wonders why they look so purdy. Has yet to discover the sickness...

His philosophy is that "Any two cards can win". But he only really goes off the deep end once he's lost a big hand; not even a bad beat, just a mistake and it's Tilt Town. Lifetime, yes, he's down huge on my site. And yes, you're 100% right, that anyone would want a seat next to him because over time you should get paid.

... it's just been a couple of months where he seems to be unstoppable with the boneheaded calls. He had another one in the tournament before cash. Was all-in after the flop against where, literally, the only thing that could help him were runner-runner and he got it. That's gotta be like a 1% chance.

Now I'm angry again, time to oil some chips to calm me down
