MIRAGE Casino to be Sold… Where Do the Chips Go? (1 Viewer)

I've always wondered if drop chips show more early damage than other chips, since it is habit for many dealers to rap the edge of the chip on the chip tray before making the drop.

Thread is missing pr0n!

Via ChipGuide, Mirage Poker Room unique chips:

Any updates on the actual closing date.
Technically, The Mirage as owned by MGM has ceased. MGM has agreed to lease back the name "Mirage" to the Hard Rock for a duration of 3 years.

The real question is "when will the rebranding occur", by which we all know means "when will the new chips arrive".

Any mint drop chips from the Mirage would have been picked up pretty early in their life. What the mirage had left in 2021 showed lots of nicks from the Mirage mold being too close to the edge. I think they had around 40 or 50 racks and I think there were maybe 20 chips that I would call mint in there. Also lots of blue chip bleed from years of rolling around with the blue 1s in the drop boxes.

Edited to say 20 chips. Not 20 racks......

Just wondering…

1) Any chance Hard Rock reopens the Mirage poker room? (New owner, revised strategy?)

2) If poker room reopens, maybe harvesting of poker room $1’s & $3’s can restart. They must have a hoard of these chips as the poker room shutdown was abrupt.

Seems likely they'll scrap the full current line and replace them with the new branding.

I thought it was closed when I was there last Thursday, which was saddening since it's my favorite and most played at Vegas casino. To my shock, it was completely open and had something I haven't seen on the strip in over five years.... a $10 minimum craps table. Threw down a quick $100, ran that up to $600 all on my own roll, and cashed out at ~$400 after the next few people shat the bed. Safe to say, some great final memories there, including witnessing a friend playing so terrible in blackjack he got an entire table to get up and leave  . Snacks (formerly where Carnegie was) also rules for what looks like a mediocre food spot.

I was there back in August and was able to get a barrel and a half of sharp $5 and two $25's but most others were worn. Going to swing by end of this month and see what's out on the tables. Had I known earlier I might have booked there instead of Cosmo, but trying to get the last of my comps from Cosmo before MGM fucks it up
