I've always wondered if drop chips show more early damage than other chips, since it is habit for many dealers to rap the edge of the chip on the chip tray before making the drop.
Technically, The Mirage as owned by MGM has ceased. MGM has agreed to lease back the name "Mirage" to the Hard Rock for a duration of 3 years.Any updates on the actual closing date.

Any mint drop chips from the Mirage would have been picked up pretty early in their life. What the mirage had left in 2021 showed lots of nicks from the Mirage mold being too close to the edge. I think they had around 40 or 50 racks and I think there were maybe 20 chips that I would call mint in there. Also lots of blue chip bleed from years of rolling around with the blue 1s in the drop boxes.I've always wondered if drop chips show more early damage than other chips, since it is habit for many dealers to rap the edge of the chip on the chip tray before making the drop.
Edited to say 20 chips. Not 20 racks......Any mint drop chips from the Mirage would have been picked up pretty early in their life. Seems likely they'll scrap the full current line and replace them with the new branding.Just wondering…
1) Any chance Hard Rock reopens the Mirage poker room? (New owner, revised strategy?)
2) If poker room reopens, maybe harvesting of poker room $1’s & $3’s can restart. They must have a hoard of these chips as the poker room shutdown was abrupt.
they still have the palm tree 25's out on the floor. they are just pretty used. If you want a few before they close, I can grab em for you.I almost have a playable set. But no $25s bc the current ones I hate the inlay. I think it’s Siegfried and Roy lol.
I used to deal poker there (2011-2015) and can confirm that the standard blue $1 from the pit would stain your hands blue after just a couple of downs. The beige ones were much nicer to us.They will be destroyed. Several casinos in Vegas have closed recently and all hit the shredder. Jim tried to get the WSOP chips from the Rio and even those no-cash-value chips weren't gettable.
My understanding was the blue $1s made a mess of their poker tables necessitating the beige $1s.
I think those were only drop chips, but am not sure. I don't know what stakes games they had at the Mirage at the end. Someone else might know better.
