Motor City Quarter - red spots, odd inlay size (1 Viewer)

I just got this eBay Motor City quarter shipped today. I ordered it just because I've always thought about buying a rack, but had never actually seen one. I didn't notice the spots were different until I got it in my hand. Chipguide says thse were issued in 3/2000 (a year after the more common black-spotted ones) and were only in play for 3 weeks. Anybody know the story behind that?

Also, I just noticed that this isn't a grand inlay and it isn't a giant inlay. I had to do a little googling to figure out this is called a super grand inlay. Ha. Didn't even know there was a size between grand and giant.

I really like the quarters that I have. Saying that, I would trade these in a second for a rack with the red spots

Yeah I think I like the little red spots better too. It's a little less busy. More becoming a quarter.

I agree. The red spots are a bit softer, more pleasing to the eye. Not sure if you could get these in quantity though given this is the first we're seeing of them (at least me).
