I ordered a 600 chip cash set of Majestics. I can't wait as these are my first set of clay chips. I know, "China Clay" but I'm still excited.

I've seen lots of posts concerning oiling and cleaning of chips. I can't find anything in regards to wondering if I have to clean brand new Majestics before I oil them. From my research it sounds like I should only clean them if they are used or gunky. Is my thinking true? Can I just oil them after I receive them?

Thank you all!

You can just oil them. Although cleaning them might help get rid of some of the china clay stank.

When you get the chips you will understand all the conversation about cleaning and oiling. The issue with CC is not that they are gunky. Gunky chips are usually from casino use...truly gunky.

CC chips are just for home use so generally speaking they don't see enough use to actually become dirty/gunky.

When CC chips come new they are covered in powder from the factory which is really gross IMO. The chips will also have a strong smell.

Step 1. Wipe each chip down with some warm soapy water. Get rid of all the excess powdery stuff.

Step 2. Let the chips dry

Step 3. Oil them with mineral oil. Apply some pressure when oiling so the oil can penetrate and seal the chip.

Step 4. Let the oil dry and then a day or two later wipe off any excess.

The post linked above has a much more detailed explanation as to what I have outlined here.

Don't be put off by CC chips. I was also super excited about getting my first set.

Yeah they aint Paulsons but the Majestics and Dunes are still great looking chips and from an aesthetic point of view much better looking than many casino and fantasy sets IMO.

Thanks for the info. I'll wash the dust off before oiling. I think I'll be very happy with them. I'm going from Nexgen to these.

...as you should be. :D

There’s nothing wrong with getting a nice set of china clays and majestics might be the best offering in that class.

I have Milano’s myself but every now and then I look at the mags on Apache and wonder if I’d have been happier with them.
