My Sticker Mule labeling experience (5 Viewers)

Man, you made it seem like you received a shit-ton of crappily-produced labels that were completely unusable.

40 Sticker Mule labels? Even the most expensive Gear labels would cost what ... 13 bucks for that project?

Chalk it up to experience and move on. Sticker Mule is a solid company, but you're labelling cheap chips with cheap stickers.

I did chalk it up, I said Live and Learn. I wish I would’ve just ordered 40, silly me ordered 300 for expansion purposes.

I didn’t make my post to whine and complain, not sure how it was interpreted that way. I came to let ppl know of the “acceptable” tolerances of a particular vendor. Had I read on this site that .03” is “acceptable” to the vendor I would have skipped them.

Yeah, that variance doesn’t fly with chippers. It’s make or break. Like I mentioned, they haven’t been perfect with me either. You’re moving on I know that. If they get your business again let’s hope they make it right. Remind them that we chippers talk. Onward and upward. Huge letdown though.

I read it as a warning or otherwise informational post for others. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Ordering .97 was my fault as it should’ve been .98. Them arriving .95 is their fault. Both have some blame, had they shown up 1” that would’ve been within their accepting tolerance, but also unusable.
I didn't like the work they did either, even for the price. Like you say the sizing was off even despite speaking with a rep, and the print quality was fuzzy (StickerApp printed it better with the same files, but I had trouble getting the finish/size I wanted with them). I wanted to label multiple sets (royals with the 27mm inlay and standard 1" inlays too), so what I ended up doing was buying a brother scan n cut, and just buying sticker paper that I laminated with a clear textured matte laminate, and printed my own stickers. I got a pretty good result doing that, and I can try a lot of designs/label sets for cheap after the initial cost (I got the scan n cut second hand). Especially with a borderless design like yours that doesn't need absolute centring, I think this is something to consider. Doesn't hurt when I want to label a cheaper chip (like a china clay), and don't want to pay Gear prices where the label is a huge % of the actual chip value. YMMV obviously, but if you're a DIY sort of guy then it's something to think about to. I'll end up making a post in the self labeling forum eventually, but just wanted to add my two cents that I also didn't find Sticker Mule worth the time, money or trouble when all was said and done.

The difference is that @Gear is passionate about chips like we are. He adores chips and has a vast data base on chips and which labels will work or not work and Chris & Andrea will advise you on which direction will work or not. I will gladly pay a slight premium for their expertise over a company that has no clue of the intricate nuances that a particular chip requires over a discount label manufacturer.

Just adding to the thread for prosperity.. don't sleep on Spinettis (vendor here). I tested out for RHC overlabels a few online vendors including sticker mule, and spinettis knocked them all out (plus labels came in less than a week from order and @Okku here is who I placed the order with).

There's something also something about supplying from a company that's poker-first, also why Gear is so good too.

Note: I got unlaminated labels because I ordered for overlabeling, but know they offer a laminated as well. Definitely would recommend folks not sleep on these if weighing vs sticker mule.

Also just tested durability by putting a label in the dishwasher (detergent, heavy cycle) and no fading of ink or noticeable change. 10/10
