My "too late to change 'cause I've already done it" CPC chip set (1 Viewer)

Haha!!! Same experience for me. I know the chemist well so I pulled my phone out and showed him the thread. Made sure I mentioned that it’s used to oil cutting boards too!

Congrats on the new set! Color combinations are great! Particularly love 5s, 500s and 1000s.

Oil quantity: After having showered the chips in lukewarm tap water in a strainer, and having wiped them clean with a soft micro-fiber cloth, I let them dry out for the night.
Next day, I used half a teaspoon of oil on a shoeshine applicator sponge for roughly every 5 barrels (100 chips), applying the oil on rolling edges only.
After having oiled all the rolling edges, I wiped them with a clean soft cloth, and then used that cloth (now slightly oiled) to wipe the perimeter of the faces too, around the labels (that's the tiresome and time-consuming part).
Wives / partners with a true love for chips and probably some love for you could be valuable in this process.:D

And yes, "mineral oil" here means good old engine lubricant:LOL: . Parafin oil is the term, and, just like vaseline or KY jelly, it shouldn't produce any particular looks on the pharmacist's face - at reasonable quantities, that is.:)

Speaking as a pharmacist, I would *NOT* want to know what you do with the chips after you coat them in KY jelly. o_O

Thanks Coyote :) Just wait till I take a photo of the $1 chip! My favourite. Finally got the second box from Australian Customs after forking out $600 in fees and taxes :(

I felt like I had to buy other stuff to cover my mineral oil purchase. Made me feel like an awkward teenager again!

With preping the chips, I cleaned a barrel with water and found no change at all. I let them dry overnight too. In the end I held a barrel between my thumb and index finger, dabbed a drop or two of oil on my finger, and ran it across the edges, spreading it evenly. I then put them on paper towel covered cooling trays. I left them to dry for about 3 days and they come up great :) Once I get them all done, I'll post pics :)

Wow $600!? Was that random that they kept one box behind and charged or is that what I should expect when I put through my order to Victoria?

I reckon it wasn't random. They let one go, knowing they'd get me for both.

Just showering or dipping in them in water changes almost nothing - it's the gentle wiping aftewards that does the clening job.
Most of the oil (almost whatever is to be absorbed) is absorbed within a minute or two.
After wiping them of whatever excess oil, the difference in colors is nothing short of impressive in relation to the dusty, chalky state they come in.:)
Congrats, and enjoy!

Oh! Liberal use of the XD14 spot patterns?! That contributes to the overall awesomeness of these chips.

Grats on your set!
