I updated my list in order of personal favorites. I have not played my Nexgens in years and have listed them several times but the cost of shipping vs weight vs value has resulted in keeping them along with sentimental value (my first real set). The majestic star 36 low limit set sold in the last set inspired me to buy another majestic star set this time around. I bought the same set as you along with the ultimate cash version. Also picked up another rack of 100's for 320/320/120/130/10=1300
Honestly all of the sets #6 and above are sweet ass poker sets. Waiting on #7 to arrive and clean up to judge. the Lucky Bee's are very playable, indestructable and good enough but the above are better. The Prestege are a cheap slugged chip I bought from a local dealer that are simply fantastic for cheap stackable versatile chips. They are a set I leave out for my daughter to use for games, as counters or whatever and brought to the hunt camp (but didn't use) as a single table set that I was with forgetting/giving away (re:$)
HSI are on the top of my list ahead of my customs because I simply like the colours and design. Most of my set is used and I honestly prefer slightly used Paulson chips over brand new. I used to have a big Pharaoh set that I sold for other things, but one irritant I always had with them was how sharp the edges were and rough they were to shuffle. They were beautiful chips but i'd sell'em again in an instant for the price they are today for more chips in the top 6 sets currently in my inventory. The other things with the Pharaoh chips was that inevitably a person would ask "are these real casino chips" and I'd have to say "yes, but not really......" rather than just yes, yes they are from this casino that closed at the location on the label. Somehow the fact the Pharaohs were "not really casino chips" made them that 1 step below the "real" thing, even though there technically were. For the large
HSI set I have gone for a massive playable "anything" goes set for whatever could happen for as many table as I could theoretically manage ever (and its growing...).
The ACDC chips were a set I bought on a lark that are top hat and cane hot stamps. The chips shuffle so nicely, leaded chips do have something that feels nicer on the fingers. They are from the atlantic card and dice company gaming school. I am not sure if students bought sets or if these were chips the school itself used to teach students. It is used but is very slight and implies a rock and roll motif to most.
36mm chips, a ex-girlfriend commented about how 36mm chips fit better in her hands and would be good for ladies night. Since buying a small Cincinnati set from Apache along with some
HSI a few years ago I have grown very fond of the little chips. It makes distinguishing your tournament chips from cash SO EASY! My favorite combo is the Horse Shoe Cincinatti 36mm tournament set played in a freeze out 1-3 table game (now can cover 4) followed by a cash gaming using the Horse shoe indiana chips.... I bought the Majestic stars 1 because of the price and I wanted a leaded set to go with the ACDC chips as a tourney/cash game pair. The reason I picked up the recently listed "more used" set was that it had more 1k and 500 value chips than my Cincinatti set. Unfortunately I missed out on some 5k spare chips so I will likely need to post a wanted for 2-3 barrels of 5k majestic star chips.
As for Customs, the quality of
CPC is simply amazing. I went with a personal simple old fashion underground club theme that was a common family term for people hanging out doing nothing as being part of "the sloth club". Re:the sin of sloth, Irish catholic family, nothing to do with furry slow creatures But including the sloth because its awesome. Seeing all the primary/secondary shenanigans about casino chips and seeing an opportunity to order another cards mold set I jumped in a group buy that went great (thank you all PCF members involved) and I ordered a "secondary" version of my Sloth chips with an alternative label and different edge spots at higher level than I could afford in a PCF set. I have yet to play the cards mold, they were voted down and the
HSI requested the night I tried to introduce them. Players liked the Horse shoe chips as I played them the previous few games and people have become accustomed......I must break them of this. I am impressed with the quality of chips I received for how little I paid for the Cards mold chips....they are something unique and I am definitely would have regretted not ordering them when I did as the price is up a good 50% since my order. Due to the price increase and comparable quality of domestic producers I would consider using
https://brpropoker.com/ for single table set orders. Both of my custom sets are designed to play as independent cash and tournament sets for a 4 table t25 based 5k freezeout (or other) and .25/.50 to 1/2 cash game+ without crossing over chips or to play across as cash entirely. In my wildest dreams I will have all of the chips in play for some big monte carlo sometime or in my wildest nightmare the "hunger games" where players bring food/luxuries to my underground, exchange for chip value, gamble, then exchange their winnings for goods behind the counter (similar to how you use tickets at an arcade to get those cheap toys etc...Best be prepared either way.
